Re: When will stadium expansion start again?
This is a pipe dream of mine, but I would be in favor of ripping out ALL of the metal bench like stands and re doing the whole stadium in NFL style individual seats. Only doing this in the non-student sections. You can't stand on stadium seats.

Just gimme a fairly uniform look all the way around and move that darn track. Keep the stands low in the North end. Please don't make them too high (or heaven forbid build high-rise dorms) and block my view of the mountains. That side needs to be somewhat open with the entrance plaza and everything.

The track is extremely unpopular on here and in some other forums, but we'll have a lot more things to need budgeting than the track removal for the next few years.AppAttack wrote:Just gimme a fairly uniform look all the way around and move that darn track. Such as? I know that as we make the move to FBS and the Sun Belt many other financial considerations must take place but as far as facilities are concerned I can think of no other first to-do than the removal of the track. I feel that our highly successful T&F programs deserve their own facilities where they can shine and feel like they are not being overpowered by football. I also feel that the Rock deserves the best aura it can provide and that simply is not going to happen with the track there. What is to become of this space: do we attempt to make it financially feasible (and feasible from an engineering standpoint) to remove the track and do the dig down we've discussed on the board for years, do we re-grade the stands, specifically the lower stands, or do we just pull a Texas State and do a cover-up job, drawing the stands closer and simply covering the "leftover" track with additional turf, in essence making the overlap serve as gameday operational space? All things that must be considered and considered soon, for without the answers to these questions we cannot grow KBS in a first-rate manner. We've done enough piecemeal, it's time to think these things through and get it right the first time. I will agree with you that many other financial considerations are just as important as the facilities process but to tackle increased scholarship funding, additional travel/expense related costs increases, etc. without concurrently tackling the future of KBS would be short-sighted. After all, football is the wind that steers the Appalachian athletics sail, and the Rock is our mighty Nor'easter.NewApp wrote:The track is extremely unpopular on here and in some other forums, but we'll have a lot more things to need budgeting than the track removal for the next few years.AppAttack wrote:Just gimme a fairly uniform look all the way around and move that darn track. Tracksters that I helped steer toward ASU liked the security of running in KBS. A remote facility such as at the old Watauga High School campus or the state farm area would discourage many female athletes from participating. That's just one consideration of many. I ran the 800m in high school and some in college.
