Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
Hap in form you are correct, however the bowls will work with the conference to pick the best situation for both parties (the conference and bowl committees). The Camellia may still believe App is the better fit and pick us over a 6-6 USA though.

Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
I know I'm trying to apply logic where I shouldn't. I was just basing it off the fact that the Camellia Bowl picks third and USA absent winning their next two is not supposed to be chosen until all eligible teams have been assigned. Of course, there really is no guarantee that really applies here.Saint3333 wrote:Hap in form you are correct, however the bowls will work with the conference to pick the best situation for both parties (the conference and bowl committees). Honestly CBS College Sports has better announcers than what espn will send. They also will not focus on other games for the majority of the game either.WVAPPeer wrote:True, but wouldn't playing a 6-6 AAC on a sports sub channel be worse? Plus 6-6 AAC team would be either UCF or Smu. Both of which beat Houston this year.

Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
Unless you are playing Toledo or Western Michigan the other teams would be underwhelming from the MAC.
1. Miami Ohio was 0-6 and beat up on the worst division in college football per Sagarin.
2. Eastern Michigan might be the best team, but they wouldn't bring more than 1K people.
3. Central Michigan has fallen apart. They wouldn't be bowl eligible without an officiating error.
4. Ohio looked really underwhelming Tuesday vs Akron. They only scored 9 against that defense.

Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
I've been one to voice disappointment over the possibility of playing a crappy opponent but as the final week approaches one annual recurring thought comes to mind. It would really suck to be 4-7 and having a final game to get to 5-7 and be left out in mid to late December. I also hope we don't reach the point of being 5-6 and hope to win so that we are barely Bowl eligible.

I am not in disagreement with you here but many feel being on ESPN gets APP broadcast worldwide and the volume of watchers will swamp what is on CBSCS - I don't like ESPN talking about every other bowl either but many, many people don't get CBSCS and of course it won't be on ESPN3 either - Don't believe UCF beat Houston???Goapps15 wrote:Honestly CBS College Sports has better announcers than what espn will send. The Cure bowl may be on an inferior channel, but if we play Eastern Michigan we are gonna wish it was on an inferior channel, as there will be tumbleweed blowing through the stands.

Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
Personally, since I will be sitting in my den and watching, I am hoping for the best match-up - I get CBSCS and all ESPNs so that makes no difference --- best match-up and best scenario for those who will be attending in person ---

My apologies UCF had a huge halftime lead and choked. Still played them tight.bigdaddyg wrote:Houston lost to SMU and NavyWVAPPeer wrote:I am not in disagreement with you here but many feel being on ESPN gets APP broadcast worldwide and the volume of watchers will swamp what is on CBSCS - I don't like ESPN talking about every other bowl either but many, many people don't get CBSCS and of course it won't be on ESPN3 either - Don't believe UCF beat Houston???Goapps15 wrote:Honestly CBS College Sports has better announcers than what espn will send. Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
Another bowl scenario. I was reading on the Sun Belt board that there may be a chance that New Orleans takes Troy with 10 wins. First bowl game in a while for the Trojans and they could sell some tickets. If W. Mich beats Toledo, Toledo goes to Dollar General. Dollar General won't do a rematch of Arkansas State and Toledo so they choose App. Arkansas State then goes to Camellia. This will probably all change by the end of Saturday.
I think 4 of the 5 bowls are in play for App, hopefully it all clears up after this weekend.

We aren't going to Arizona. Other than that, it's as clear as mud.

They should. It's a good, sensible, vacation for their fans.appbio91 wrote:If Idaho wins next week they are an 8 win team. Do they still end up in Arizona?

I was thinking USA loss would bump them to last choice. w/o the waiver they would not qualify so I assumed Idaho might get Orlando (geography aside).

Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
ULL also likely to be eligible. Now, if they lose and USA wins, is it possible Idaho gets sent east based on USA not being eligible to be picked before any other eligible team? That might be what a strict reading of the waiver would suggest, but it sure wouldn't be doing Idaho any favors.appbio91 wrote:I was thinking USA loss would bump them to last choice. w/o the waiver they would not qualify so I assumed Idaho might get Orlando (geography aside).
Bottom line is that the selection order isn't hard and fast, and the choices are made with input from the schools and conference. Hard to imagine Idaho not going to Arizona.

Re: LATEST BOWL PROJECTIONS - ESPN
No, it would just mean only 3 5-7 teams instead of 4 would be going bowling. USA would probably go to Birmingham or one of the other 3rd tier bowls that won't have either of their contract tie-ins eligible.appbio91 wrote:Yep, I had written them off. That really complicates things. So if USA and ULL both win next week does USA get left out.

There's a reason App isn't selling potential tickets to the Arizona Bowl. If there was a 1% chance of going, App would sell tickets to it.AppinVA wrote:We aren't going to Arizona. Other than that, it's as clear as mud.
