Ranking the Bowls

Unread post by Rick0714 » Tue Dec 08, 2015 8:45 am

A very arbitrary look at all 40 bowls and ranked based upon, what appears to be, their potential "watchability". Camelia comes in at 13! Two behind GoDaddy with GaSo vs BG. ArkSt vs LaTech at 25. GaSt vs SJSU? Dead last, 40! Interesting. Looks like most pundits are predicting a 1-3 Bowl season for the Belt with the one being pretty important for App fans! Would prefer 3-1 personally. ;)

There is another thread on here listing ESPN ranking and they are reverse with the Belt going 3-1 w/ GASO losing.

What pundits are you seeing who are picking the SB to go 1-3? As AppFan11 just said, ESPN has the Belt at 3-1.

SBNation's rundown includes ten different opinions, and there is a consensus on App and stAte both winning their bowls, a dead heat (5-5) in the Cure Bowl, and a slight edge to BGSU over GaSo (6-4). http://www.sbnation.com/a/bowl-games-schedule-2015

Bleacher Report has the #funbelt at 3-1 also, with only stAte dropping their game. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2596 ... -bowl-game

ESPN has our bowl as the next to the bottom (second worst). I personally put zero stock in this rating. For App fans it is the best game and that is all that matters. That being said I don't see Stink hanging with BGSU. If we don't turn the ball over, have a healthy offensive line and continue to mix up our blitz packages we should do fine.

Why? They're the ones that put the thing together. If I were them, I'd put it above Cure and the Phoenix bowl (and Sun Bowl) for that reason.

That's a particularly lazy list. Only one game between two G5 teams in the top half (and that's the #20 game, the Boca Raton Bowl between Toledo and Temple. That's a game I'd rank much higher), and only two games between two P5 teams in the bottom half. Weak sauce. And that's not pure homerism talking. The Foster Farms Bowl at 19? Taxslayer Bowl at 14? I know we're talking opinions here, but it just seems like an uninspired list.

I think these pundits are rather uninspired about ranking the bowl games. I would be too.
