We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. My brother gets a spot on Friday evening, we'll probably start sometime around 10 AM, that gives us around 5 hours. Oh yeah!WVAppsfan wrote:Great day for a nice tailgate then.

What's the policy for parking on King Street now? When I was in school it was cool to do on game days. Is this still ok?WataugaMan wrote:My brother gets a spot on Friday evening, we'll probably start sometime around 10 AM, that gives us around 5 hours. I believe that King St might be first come first serve. Used to be that King St would fill up on Friday nights, but that has tailed off in the past couple years.

Re: 3:30 kickoff for Wyoming
Slightly off topic here, but does concern the 3:30 kickoff.
I have always known that the consumption of alcohol can not begin before 3.5 hours prior to kickoff. For a 3:30 kickoff, one can start drinking alcohol at 12:00pm. During the Howard game and a few times during the past seasons, my tailgate group have been "reminded" by local law enforcement that the consumption of alcohol can't begin until 3 hours prior to kickoff.
I got into a friendly "discussion" with a police officer about that. I mentioned the 3.5 hour rule and he said, "I've been doing this for over a decade and it has always been 3 hours." I let it go until the Monday after the game.
I went online and found this site http://policy.appstate.edu/Tailgating. On this site, I found this line,

That line confirms what I have been saying to these police officers for several years. Someone within the hierarchy of the University needs to know about this so they can either correct the police officers and make sure they are properly informed or correct the site so the tailgaters are properly informed. Who would that person be?4.3.7 Consumption of alcoholic beverages may begin no more than 3 ½ hours before the starting time of the event. Consumption of alcoholic beverages after commencement of the event is prohibited.

I believe App Parking Services cone off King St until 5 pm on Friday, then it's up for grabs. However the parade this year is at 5:30 pm on Friday so it'll likely be after that.

Re: 3:30 kickoff for Wyoming
Do y'all mean King St. or Rivers St.?
If King St., I didn't realize App had spots on King St. to cone off. That's interesting!

River Street had cones blocking parking during the Howard game. I think they did the same last year as well. In the past you could park on River street, now it appears you cannot.

I have seen tickets being handed out on King St on game day many times. I have put money in meters for fellow App Fans to prevent the meter police from handing out tickets before. I would never park on King Street unless you want to owe the Town of Boone when you leave. There are many lots that you pay to park up and are fine all day.

Yes this is correct. The officer we spoke with at the last game also added that if concealed in a cup they can not assume you are consuming alcohol.kiddbrewer wrote:Slightly off topic here, but does concern the 3:30 kickoff.

Yep, I meant River St. I don't think the town wants game-goers to park on King St. You can swipe a CC now though at the meters so they might not mind if the CC is on file.
Gameday is forecasting to be right at peak leaf season, so traffic is going to be something.

Re: 3:30 kickoff for Wyoming
We're Wyoming fans coming from Northern Virginia with three and possibly another from Columbia, SC. I too will be sporting a genuine cowboy hat from Luckenbach, TX. Bought it a few weeks ago just for this occasion.
Looks like we'll have a pretty good representation of Cowboy fans and Alumni at the game. Probably in the 300 to 500 range. Given the distance, that's not bad. A lot of our fans are spread all over the place so we'll have a bunch from the East Coast, like myself.
From the football side of things I'm looking at our game with a lot of angst. The Pokes are very young - second youngest team in the FBS. We've had some growing pains coming into this week's game 0-3 (ouch!). The Cowboys host conference rival New Mexico this weekend and we're hoping to see a lot of progress and a victory. Win or lose, I know Wyoming will be in a tough game the following week in Boone.
Looking forward to the trip though. Here's to a good game with no injuries!

Travel safely. Since I can't make the ODU game this week, I'm really looking forward to next week's game. The Virginian wrote:We're Wyoming fans coming from Northern Virginia with three and possible another from Columbia, SC.

Welcome, Cowboys!
Just a suggestion: Get to campus early & check out all the tailgaiting. If you wear Wyo. colors with that hat, you'll be fine. Come to Duncan lot, space #56. We hope to be there by 10:30-ish. We'll share. Also, there are many fine grills, bars, & restaurants in Boone & surrounding area. Homecoming parade is Friday night. Enjoy!
BTW, I was at the game in '04 in Laramie. Ouch! We got an ol' fashioned whoopin'. No one on this year's team remembers that. But, I do. Payback time! Hope yall have as much fun here as I did out there.

Re: 3:30 kickoff for Wyoming
Thank you sir. You'll run into a gregarious crowd of Cowboy fans around Boone this Saturday. Win or lose they like to party. A Las Vegas bar manager is quoted as saying that whenever the Pokes come to town their business goes up "significantly." I hope you like brown, you'll see a lot of it.AppAlum1 wrote:The Virginian wrote:We're Wyoming fans coming from Northern Virginia with three and possibly another from Columbia, SC.
