Re: Recruiting, 2015
One thing to keep in mind. According to an article written in Sept 2013 on the Clemson Rivals site he's only been playing organized sports since his sophomore year in high school (basketball first then football). Really only has a couple of years at the varsity level. What everyone is seeing is a player who is relatively new to football, looks to be picking up the position quickly, and has huge upside with a lot of room for growth into the position. Reports are the staff loves him and he's been a top target for a while. Get him in here with Coach Mike in the weight room and Coach Ledford on the field and we are looking at having a BIG piece of the OL puzzle for several years to come.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Great news. Five spots left, hoping for a big WR, 2 OL, 1DL, and best available.
The tough part will be holding on to some of these guys.
Moose how many of the Jucos will enroll early? I believe the kicker is the only HS commit that will enroll early.

I hope he can move.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Right now WR Zireycus Letman is the only JUCO that is scheduled to enroll in Jan. The other two that have signed their FAA's and are enrolling are TE Collin Reed and PK Michael Rubino. Everyone else so far appears to be a May graduate but I've got a message in checking on any changes. I'll post an update when I hear back.Saint3333 wrote:Great news. Re: Recruiting, 2015
Just got word that DB Mondo Williams will be signing Wednesday (thanks Mike Holloway). He was the one I was most curious about since I thought I had seen a post a while back saying he would be done. If nothing changes that will be 2 JUCO's and 2 HS players. PK Michael Rubino tweeted a little while ago he's "Officially done with High School" so everything is on track for him. I'll update more as I get the info.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Good news on Mondo - I'll make an early prediction that he will start at at least one position (CB) and maybe two (PR).
As for Taylor, count me among those who's thrilled to land another OL. I won't pretend to be an OL scout. But I do like when we sign athletic guys who are relatively new to the sport at any position - lots of potential there. And while he is large, 6'8", 290 isn't fat by OL standards - it's not like signing a 6'4" 330-pounder who has to spend a year working off baby fat.
In terms of the rest of the class, I see our main positional needs as 1-2 more OL and at least one high school DE. But I think we have a few in the "best available" category at other positions that could really boost the overall quality of the class.

He's not, he moved to DT. Darnell Scott, their 4 star running back from havelock is transferring and ECU looks to be the leader at this point.moonshine wrote:94, where is Kendal Vickers transferring?

Re: Recruiting, 2015
My fault. I saw that one of them had ties to NC and thought it was the DE. Sorry for the confusion.moonshine wrote:94, where is Kendal Vickers transferring?
Re: Recruiting, 2015
Sounds somewhat similar to the Brian Quick situation. Guy could've played at a lot of top schools, but was pretty raw coming in to App. Hope the results here are similar to B-Quicks!firemoose wrote:One thing to keep in mind. Re: Recruiting, 2015
So JUCO signing day is tomorrow. Does that mean Darnell Thompson has to commit tommorrow?
Re: Recruiting, 2015
We now have 2 OL commits from the Palmetto State (Taylor and Johnson). Would be good to see Blake DuRant (another OL prospect from South Carolina) commit as well. Great work coaches recruiting that state. I hope we will see increased activity in recruiting in Tennessee and Virginia in the future. Our Georgia connections are great and I expect to see that continue. This 2015 class is shaping up nicely. Hope we finish it strong. Thanks coaches for your hard work. Go Apps!!

My bad for the double post. I usually blame my mistakes on medication side effects.

no, it's an early signing period for the JUCO's who are enrolling in January.crossza wrote:So JUCO signing day is tomorrow. Does that mean Darnell Thompson has to commit tommorrow?

Yep. Thompson isn't an early enrollee and he's stated several times that he doesn't plan to commit until mid to late Jan.mtnjax wrote:no, it's an early signing period for the JUCO's who are enrolling in January.crossza wrote:So JUCO signing day is tomorrow. Re: Recruiting, 2015
We have our first official LOI signed for the class of 2015. DB/KR Mondo Williams (5′ 11″ 175) of Iowa City West High School/Iowa Western CC in Council Bluffs, IA has signed his LOI to App State and will enroll in January. Not a surprise as he said he was signing today but it's official now. I have moved him to the Signed section on the Main Page and have updated his player page. And we can Officially say Welcome to the Mountaineer Family Mr Williams!!!
