Just to let everyone know this is not official YET. No details in the open but it could come at anytime though. Got my fingers crossed and I'll post as soon as I know anything else.appstate24 wrote:Looks like we just picked up Antonius Sims from GMC. Saw it posted on teammate Dezmin Reed's instagram. Looks like another solid pickup! GO APPS!!

Here's hoping. We need a boost to the DL with Benton leaving
edit: Coach Sloan's twitter seems excited about something
also, Rubino must have signed an FAA since App State's twitter account is welcoming him

Re: Recruiting, 2015
It's official. DE Antonius Sims (6′ 3″ 245) of Eastside High School in Covington, GA/Georgia Military College in Milledgeville, GA has committed to App this evening. I have moved him to the commits section of the Main Page and I'll be updating his page ASAP.
Another piece of good news. Appears that K/P Michael Rubino (6′ 3″ 190) of Middle Creek High School in Apex, NC is going to be January enrollee. I'm checking to see if he has signed the FAA yet. But him starting in Jan just makes an even more rock solid commit. Each of those we get just makes it harder for someone to try and poach them from us. I'll keep all updated.

haha no prob moose. Big getting that level of commitment from Rubino. I did not realize he was the #8 kicker (according to 247) and that he had offers from Penn St and ECUfiremoose wrote:Sorry mtn. As confirmed by appstatesports.com K/P Michael Rubino (6′ 3″ 190) of Middle Creek High School in Apex, NC has signed his FAA agreement. I have moved him to the Signed FAA section of the Main Page. Sorry but I was working on the Sims commit and didn't look at the ASP home page to see. Would have saved some typing.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Yep. He went to the Elite kicking camp and the only invite a dozen or so of those each year. I was really hoping we could keep him and someone wouldn't sweep in with another offer. Getting him enrolled is huge. Another great get for the staff.mtnjax wrote:haha no prob moose. Big getting that level of commitment from Rubino. Re: Recruiting, 2015
Sims sounds like a great pickup, and especially important with Benton gone. Have to think he pushes for a starting job next year, although I know we have some guys getting good experience opposite Blair this year.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
You talk about a player filling a need.....hard to imagine Rubino not handling PK and kickoff duties next year.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Difficult to know exactly but App is still firmly in the mix and it's safe to say, since the only WR we really want right now is a tall one, that he's at the top of our board. His offer sheet hasn't changed much but I expect more to come in as more 6' 4"+ WR's drop off teams boards. Same thing happened last year with our top targets. I know we would feel better if we could get a commit but that is just something we have to wait for him to decide on.crossza wrote:How is Markeyvious Adams leaning? Haven't heard anything about him.

Methinks we need to get Armanti down to his high school alma mater and talk to the kid.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
We have Atlanta's Eastern Metro on lock down...seems like we get a ton of kids from Newton and Rockdale Counties...Blackmon, Sims, McCray, the DB we signed last week. Sloan really working his contacts there and at GMC!firemoose wrote:It's official. Re: Recruiting, 2015
Hopefully our turnaround sparks some news on the recruting front. Is there a list of visitors to the Idaho game?

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Most high schools are in the middle of their playoffs right now, so we probably won't hear anything until those are over. probably will be a slim group for the Idaho game, being Thanksgiving weekend and all

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Having some net issues today. I'll have a list by mid week hopefully and will post the targets coming but as Jax said I would expect this one to be shorter than our previous games as far as officials go given that it's a holiday weekend.
As for top targets, having them and being in line for them are a little different. We're looking for another tall WR, another DB, and OL/DL, or more likely DL/OL right now (possibly another LB depending on how the commits go). I would say that WR Markeyvious Adams is near the top of the list and we've got more than 20 DB offers out now, including ATH offers. I can name a couple I know are up there but they, along with most of the OL/DL realistic offers we've got out have, all got multiple offers out for them and for every one they have our chances drop a little. Even with the win streak and what we are building here these guys have many choices and, as I said a little while back and Jax said again, until the playoffs are over it will be a little slow. They will end in a couple of weeks and I expect the activity to pick up.
I'll do some checking and get a little more idea of what we're looking at as far as interest from both sides.

Re: Recruiting, 2015
Any news on DE Devin Papenheim? I saw tape of Texas commit Charles Omenihu right before I saw Devin's tape and I have to say, Devin is better than Charles Omenihu is. 247 says Appalachian State is the favorite. Since his team got ousted from the playoffs last week is he going to visit for the Idaho game, and is there a possibility that he might commit soon too as well?
