Re: double digit dogs at Ark State
understandable. arkansas state is good, doesn't mean we can't upset them though.
Re: double digit dogs at Ark State
yep, they are really good, 12-17 sounds about right, if we have one thing in our favor, the game time temp should be in the 40's might see some rain, obviously, we have no problems playing in cold, miserable weather, but these other SBC teams seem to made up of a bunch of pansies, who cant play in weather below 70 degrees, hope that is the case this weekend.

That's fine. The way I see it, we are playing with house money the next two weeks anyway. A win would be nice, but continuing to make progress, along with the experience of playing the conference's best teams on the road will be invaluable to this young, up and coming team. They had better beat us now, because I don't see us as being a double digit dog to anyone in the SBC next season.

USA had no problem playing in such temps when they came to Boone.moehler wrote:yep, they are really good, 12-17 sounds about right, if we have one thing in our favor, the game time temp should be in the 40's might see some rain, obviously, we have no problems playing in cold, miserable weather, but these other SBC teams seem to made up of a bunch of pansies, who cant play in weather below 70 degrees, hope that is the case this weekend.

USA just had a night where everything clicked. They've been hot garbage since. Plus their QB is from Canadahapapp wrote:

And the temps weren't like they have been

I would expect App to be a road dog against the Wolves, but I guarantee App has their attention. The young Apps have some confidence going and that can go a long way in a game like this one. I expect App to play them pretty tight and we'll see what happens in the 4th quarter. stAte takes a lot of chances on offense and sometimes they backfire. App better be prepared for fake kicks, onside kicks, reverses, all types of crazy plays.

I agree. I think that if our guys knew then what they know now in terms of how to play the 3-4 properly. We would have been able to run more blitzes and put pressure on the their QB.mtnjax wrote:USA just had a night where everything clicked. They've been hot garbage since. I said their QB had accuracy issues and we made him look better than he was. The difference is we now are bringing pressure and playing aggressive defense.App91 wrote:We made him look like Warren Moon that night!mtnjax wrote:USA just had a night where everything clicked. Not surprised at the line. They are a top 3 sun belt team at home and we have 3 fbs wins in which our opponents have a combined 6-23 record. We haven't earned Vegas respect..........YET. We have the ability to announce to the SunBelt that App is on the rise with this one.
Appalachian State, Better than your school since 1899!!!!

I'll be interested to see what your defensive game plan is against a really mobile QB. I figure you will bring pressure and spy, but by doing so you're taking defenders away from coverage.
Also be interested in the cat and mouse game when we are on defense. We pride ourselves on stopping the run, though we've been gashed recently.
Have watched some of the film from ULM, noticed some things that your defense does that I think our coaching staff will try to take advantage of.
Actually, your defense reminds me of ULM a bit in that you will send extra defenders on any down to try and confuse and surprise an offense for both the run and pass. That's what has led to the amount of TFL you seem to have been building up. We seem to be getting teams coming off their best weeks lately, so we're expecting the best shot anybody's got.
We lost a starting CB (we have 3 that are all Co-starters) to a targeting call early last week so he will be back. Our do everything slot WR didn't play (didn't even dress) for last week's game with an ankle injury, though his status will be more clear today at the coach's press conference.
We have had 20 different players catch a pass (including 2 by the QB), and have had about 10 different players have carries and 8 different ones throw a pass. We've been featured for our insane fake punts and will line up in every formation imaginable beforehand to lessen your chances of a return.
Our placekicking has been like yours (50% success rate so far, 8 for 16), and that has really put a damper on our Red Zone offense, but the same guy handles all 3 jobs (like yours), so it does get a little much.

Re: double digit dogs at Ark State
I'll take one of those fake punts from your own 8 yard line! We got to be ready for that one!

Never said they were good...jamesbo wrote:Yeah really great fake punts...
The first one we ran against Tennessee worked, and the one against Miami would have worked with a better pass. The ULL one I've got nothing. It was a bad decision.
Maybe I should have said infamous for the fakes.
