See, you're part of the problem we have and you dont even know it. Decades? Temple games now are nothing like they were decades ago. I used to go when I was little and it would be almost entirely visiting fans. We may not draw 40K a game, but we're not getting outdrawn by visiting fans, even when we play Penn State, Maryland and Rutgers at home. Hell, if you haven't been to a Temple game in decades, we didn't even have a student section the last time you were at a game. Temple's student section only started in 2005...PhillyApp1 wrote:I haven't been to a Temple football game in decades.

App grad is director of student services at Templeboonetown1 wrote:10-15k is very accurate for Temples attendance. Looking at home averages, they averaged roughly 20k as of last season. Which is funny because ,amu FCS schools average way more (App?).
I also gather from this JHG, that Temple is about to be in major debt.

so we know they are smart enough to recruit the same player, and hire an APP grad,...still not a college football towntromboneman wrote:App grad is director of student services at Templeboonetown1 wrote:10-15k is very accurate for Temples attendance. Re: Recruiting, 2014
Is this financial mess that Temple is about to enter because they were kicked out of the Big East a few years ago because they wouldn't spend any money for football or athletic improvements and the Big East kicked them out. Joined the MAC for awhile until the Big East just had to have them back because of a shortage of members.

Well said!SpeedkingATL wrote:All cities and towns have their good and bad points. I live in Atlanta and enjoy it, I lived and still visit Boone and love it, and spend a lot of time on the gulf coast and enjoy it too. This kid will make a decision based on a lot of factors as will all of these recruits. Hopefully App and the Boone area meet the needs of the majority of our recruits, but no need to bash kids, other cities/towns or programs. App State can stand on its own pretty well.

I'm not sure what financial mess you're referring to. We are fine as it stands.GoApps70 wrote:Is this financial mess that Temple is about to enter because they were kicked out of the Big East a few years ago because they wouldn't spend any money for football or athletic improvements and the Big East kicked them out. Page already built in the Considering section. This was talked about yesterday but nothing was confirmed. Hudl has him listed at 6' 2", others at 5' 11". Also nothing was confirmed about whether this this was a full scholarship or a PWO. Why I didn't say anything yet.Goapps15 wrote:Mykelti Armstrong just committed to App State. 1. Welcome Mykelti!
1a. Actual recruiting news! What?!
2. Is his name pronounced "Michael T"? If so, he's an early contender for best name on the team.
3. moose, assume he has an offer (as opposed to PWO)? (nevermind, see you answered this already)
4. Probably safe to assume he might have exaggerated the height on Hudl, but he looks taller than 5'11" in the highlight video.
5. Glad to have him, but should this be considered foreshadowing of bad news on Eaton and/or Meadors?

Honestly I think they were hoping it would be kept quite until tomorrow but can't control when something gets posted on twitter. when I get confirmation I'll let everyone know.EastHallApp wrote:firemoose wrote:Page already built in the considering section. Re: Recruiting, 2014
According to his twitter page he is a former verbal to Western Carolina. If that was his best offer before us I assume he is a PWO here.
Appalachian State, Better than your school since 1899!!!!

Re: Recruiting, 2014
I have moved WR Mykelti Armstrong (6′ 2″ 180) of Forestview High School in Gastonia, NC to the commits section on the Main Page. I went with a 6' 2" height as a between the sites. Also still no official word on if it's a PWO or a ship. When it's announced I'll post an update.

APP student section averages 10-12,000 with 16,000 students

APP averages 29,000+ on a good year from 2005 and last year in a bad year we had 25,000 .
most APP fans drive 3-4 hours to get to the game. APP ha been in FCS like Nova with a million times the support.
I like Temple !
If the kid wants city, go to Temple.
If he wants growing, totally supported, Southern Football, he will go to APP.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
Armstrong now added to the 247 commit list as well. They list him at 6'2", FWIW.
While we're killing time, Armstrong is now the 4th App commit who is unranked on 247. GSU leapt from 8th in the Sun Belt to the top of the conference when they got a bunch of unranked commits within a few days and 247 quickly ranked them all, giving many 3* ratings.
Wonder if/when they'll get around to giving our guys the same treatment? I know some don't care about star rankings, but having every GSU commit ranked vs. 4 unranked App commits could be the difference between who winds up with the Sun Belt's top class. Obviously that doesn't win any games for you, but it would be a nice talking point for either coaching staff as they move into 2015 recruiting.

Then I'll change it to 6' 2". Can always change it to a different once SID puts it out.

Re: Recruiting, 2014
46 of the players in the Super Bowl were 2 stars or unranked. A site that bestows stars because they sign with a school is patronizing. You don't know until you strap it on and as we've seen in the past 10 years we found gems that were unranked that we developed and they are in the NFL now. The only tangible I need to see is size and speed.
