Only 268 days until Michigan!
Doubtful unless the calendar and schedule somehow work out with a regular season game in the first weekend of December but KBS could host the conference championship game in December if App has the best record and Benson adds a 12th team.

So now that this round of "huge news" is done, I'm impatient for more. 2014 opponents are set; any leads on who might fill the final two spots for '15 and '16? I'm assuming we'll be looking at one FCS and probably one road game against a bigger-name opponent each year.

I'm hearing the BCS away game will be drivable for our fans if we close the deal for 2015.

We already have our Belt schedule for the next two years.

Next year at home we have Georgia State, Idaho, South Alabama, and Louisiana-Monroe. On the road we have Georgia Southern, Arkansas St., Troy, and Louisiana-Lafayette. That will flip in 2015.
The dates should be released sometime in March.

I cant wait to order my game tickets and plane fare for Louisiana-Lafayette. Not. ;>)

Then don't.

That was a joke of course.

You already spend enough money on WCU season tickets. No one wants you there anyway.

I for one can't wait for a chance to see the Apps play in Cajun Country.

SA. I have never bought a single ticket to an away game of any kind at WCU. And what do you mean no one?

Per FB Schedules, schools with open dates in 2015 within 300 miles from Boone are: WFU, UNC, Va. Tech, Ga. Tech, NCSU, Clemson and UGA. Within 330 miles includes Vandy and Kentucky.

Play Spurrier and be prepared for his starters to be taking the field late in the 4th with a 76 point lead . . .DB

If USC, or any team for that matter, is up 76 points on us, we will have bigger problems than whether or not they call off the dogs.

I think it's likely that we are scheduled to play either Thanksgiving weekend or the following weekend (first weekend in December). If a home game, I would rather play the first weekend in December than Thanksgiving weekend.

I look forward to the announcement of our 2014 scheduled dates as well next spring.

I'm thrilled with our scheduling plans for FBS where we still plan to play 6 home games including 4 conference games, an FBS non-conference opponent, and an FCS school. Since we plan to only play one road BCS team, theses games will need to be money games. With that said, BCS game payouts have a wide range due to significant differences in attendance and revenue generation in general. We likely will attempt to maximize our payout since we will have only one BCS game (like we are doing in 2014 at Michigan). In upcoming years, look for us to target the big schools with larger stadiums to balance our revenue needs with the importance of 6 home games for the local economy. With that said, Clemson, Georgia and possibly Va Tech would be likely opponents from your list. I doubt we would be playing Kentucky or Vandy or even Wake unless it's a 2 for 1 deal.

We should do like ODU and go ahead and never do a 2-1.

The Lamecocks have a history of not blowing out teams they should.

How much money does a game that draws 30,000 fans generate for the athletics department? Even at $1 million, I'm not sure the so-called money games clear more than what we make at KBS for a well-attended home game.

Our game at Michigan will clear $1 million less travel expenses. Even if we draw 30k for a home game, remember that our attendance number includes students (no additional revenue above student athletic fee) and ticket comps (more free tickets than most would think). We also will have a contractual payout to make to the visiting team for a nonconference game if a one game arrangement. We clear significantly more money with a BCS road game that has a large payout.

I assume there are also some fixed operating costs that come with home games . . . and maybe some income from food/drinks vendors at the games. I assume these costs and revenues are a tiny fraction of what we make at the gate, but I have no idea.

The one caveat I see is that far more App alumni and assorted other fans get to see the game in KBS in person. For me, I would rather see App in person than on ANY television network. Of course we picked up a lot of Wal-Mart fans, including Buckeyes. lol
