I'm not sure if they'll retiree his number, but I believe he should receive a waiver and get added to next year's HOF class.
I think this would be a great way to honor him, if it even requires a waiver. But it would be certainly deserved, and the timing feels like it would be right.

I'm not a big fan of doing things like retiring numbers, naming streets/buildings after people, etc., immediately after they have died. No one was talking about retiring his number before, which would mean you're doing it because he died. If that's something people want to pursue in, say, 3-5 years when it's a less emotionally charged decision, I'd be more in favor of that.
While I respect your opinion, will there ever be a time when App fans aren’t emotional about Shawn Clark?

He’s earned this: a record of 40-24 as a head coach, two-time All-American and three-time all-conference selection as a player.

And a note to Gillin and his team (if they read this board): DO NOT screw this up like you did when #14 was honored. That ceremony was a travesty.

If Shawn hadn't been an assistant coach and HC he may already be in the HOF as a player. That's a no-brainer.

Emotion is running high as it should be. These decisions should take place after emotion calms down.

So are you saying that this would be done because of EMOTIONS and not because it was EARNED??? = Wait for emotions to calm down??? - for what end???

Not downplaying any of his accomplishments or his connection to the school. Emotions are always more intense immediately following someone's passing, especially when it is sudden and unexpected.

There were people advocating for changing the NBA's logo to Kobe Bryant's silhouette after he died. I didn't think that was a great idea either.

I also don't know that retiring Clark's number immediately would even be desirable for his family. I certainly don't pretend to speak for them, let me be clear on that. But if it were your spouse or parent, and the grief were still this fresh and raw, would you want to go back to the school that just fired him less than a year ago to participate in their ceremony within a month of two of his death?

I don't know how I'd feel. But I think I would be conflicted.

The family , rightfully, will decide when the time is right. No one else.

And it wouldn’t happen this season anyway.

Did you see they showed Watts? Surely ESPN did not think it was Clark, right?

During game broadcast, they showed Watts about 35% of the time when he was on staff. Not surprising
