They had a rather lengthy conversation at mid field prior to this. It could have been discussed then. Just speculating.T-Dog wrote:Doesn't look like it.AppSt94 wrote: Maybe he asked Satt if he could come over and say something.

Re: UT coach and on field talk
What should have happened was Satt going into the UT locker room and Saying " I haveto give you guys props for not giving up you played really well to achieve that comeback". " Good luck for the rest of your season".
I think our players are more impressed with Satt than UT coach.

I think it all depends on what he said and how he said it. It looks to me like he said y'all out played us tonight and deserved to win. I will be rooting for you the rest of the season. Or I hope he said something like that.

A lot of mentions about Butch entering our huddle post game.

...and Musberger ruins it by mispronouncing our name. We've been on the national stage since at least 2005. There is no excuse for this to keep happening.

Noticed this in the comment section from an Auburn fan and thought it was hilarious !

Re: UT coach and on field talk
It appeared to me that he told Satterfield when they first met on the field something along the lines that he wanted to say something to them given then length of their meeting. At the point that Butch came over to the team, Satt stepped out of the way willingly to give Butch time to speak. Without knowing the conversation any assumptions about what was said or how the team felt is pure speculation which holds no water.

I'm going to take it he was being nice. I don't care what he really meant if it was something else. I will say that I stayed in Tenn until Monday afternoon and wore my App State shirt everyday (even to Church) and EVERYONE told me WE WON that game. Everyone!!
Ok Church thing. The couple we were with, we ran into her old minister they haven't seen in 12 years at Fuddruckers (as we were meeting my wife's family from Lenior City, TN). They invited us to their church in Morristown and we went. I told him that church wasn't in our plans and I only had App State shirts. He said come as you are. Several people at the church told me the same thing about the game, YOU GUYS WON, but not on the scoreboard.

Geez...
Seems to me he meant well. In the chaos of a post-game, when your team really showed the world why App State is for real, seems like he wanted to do something positive. Sue him. In the heat of the moment, you get what you get and it seems Butch realized we were lucky as SHI7 to get out with a win, I was sad that anyone had to lose. Maybe that's the point. There is no way this coach would intentionally disrespect. It was an effort to be a decent guy and say you guys are for REAL.

Which church? I lived in Morristown for 3 years.

Re: UT coach and on field talk
Another topic beaten to death. After some time to digest this I think he genuinely meant well. At the end of the day it's still just a darn game. We all take it way too seriously and unfortunately money has ruined a lot of the fun. Too many fans treat sports like life and death. My 13 year old sons play travel baseball and I umpire. I see parents of 9 year old kids lose their minds over calls. Every now and then I kindly ask folks to just relax. It's just a game. Our boys did great and I'm sure Butch breathed a huge sigh of relief. That would have been a disaster of a loss.

Only about a mile or so from where I lived. Near the big town of Talbott, TN
