Founding Dean of Beaver College of Health Sciences Departs for LRU

Unread post by HkyMtneer » Tue Oct 25, 2016 6:26 am

It appears that Dr. Whitt, the founding dean of the Beaver College of Health Sciences, is heading down the mtn. to become the new President of Lenoir-Rhyne. Dr. Whitt has done a great job merging so many things, spread across so many locations, and in overseeing the development of what has become our second largest college. I hate to lose a man that calls ASU his alma mater but it's definitely an amazing opportunity to oversee a school looking to grow and wish him nothing but success. Who knows...do the job well and we might see him back on the mtn. down the road in an even higher capacity.

Just read that Dr. Fred Whitt is leaving to become President of Lenoir Rhyne. Any inside info as to reasons. The founding dean of the department gone at a time of tremendous growth, funding, and construction of new building. Thought he could be a candidate to lead App down the road.

I have a ton of inside info on Fred given my sister's position in HES. Pretty simple actually. Search firm contacted him, LR is looking to boost their health sciences programs, natural progression of a Dean, no move involved, Donna continues to work here, and he gets to be President of a University. Pretty much a win/win for him and his family.

He wasn't actively looking for a new job. He and many others have a lot of time invested in the new development and building going up. And if it have been any further away it would have been a more difficult decision. But it wasn't and he took a great opportunity that presented itself. Not much more to it than that.

Also, he goes from a State Institution to a Private University. Something to be said to knowing where you stand and what you can do without calling Raleigh or the Hill.
That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Very true. I was planning on saying that but just saw I left that out. Thanks for adding it.
