Re: Brant Wilkerson Leaving WSJ
I'm assuming that DJ and AW didn't know that yesterday when they had him on the DG Show. They asked him about living in Boone and the community, and he went on and on about how much he liked living in Boone.
I thought he did a very good job in his coverage and certainly hope that his replacement will do likewise. I don't like the idea of such quick turnover in the person covering App State but no one can fault someone for taking a better job, if that is the case. He is a young guy building a career, so we shouldn't be too surprised at the move.

Apparently he's moving on to the News and Record to cover the ACC, better job IMO. Brant did a great job on the beat for the Neers, hopefully they find someone to fill his shoes and then some.hapapp wrote:I'm assuming that DJ and AW didn't know that yesterday when they had him on the DG Show. On another note, I saw we made a new hire in the athletics department; Steve Uhlmann. Not sure which position he will be be filling but he announced the move on Twitter yesterday.

His coverage of App sports was great and very timely via twitter. I will not however miss his tweets about his personal feelings towards non-sports matters (I really feel like reporters should have two twitter accounts).
Good luck to him in the future.

Looks like he will have the opportunity to cover App State when we roll the Deacs next year in Boone!
Best of luck Brant on your next endeavors and thank you for your work in covering App State sports.

Re: Brant Wilkerson Leaving WSJ
According to that great, all-knowing news source, Dr. Google, a Steve Uhlmann has done quite a few "athletics executive" job searches in recent months. This particular fellow has most recently been described as a stringer and then as a newsdesk contributor for SB Nation. He might fit in as an SID or as the compliance chief in the chancellor's office. I didn't drill deep enough to get his credentials. So, let the guessing begin. On another note, I saw we made a new hire in the athletics department; Steve Uhlmann. Re: Brant Wilkerson Leaving WSJ
This news caused me to do a double-take--especially in light of his radio conversation with DJ yesterday. I appreciate his coverage of the Apps and wish him every success...but...something about this sudden, thunderbolt announcement from the clear blue hits me in the wrong way. I give him his due. He'll move on and I'll drop my issue with his methodology. Who's up next?hapapp wrote:I'm assuming that DJ and AW didn't know that yesterday when they had him on the DG Show. I wonder if this is a job DJ would be interested in... I think he would be great at it!
