Car Rally in Boone

Unread post by Rekdiver » Sun Jul 13, 2014 7:26 pm

Today I stumbled on a Model T week long rally on a closed section of King Street. 248 Ts from all over. The headquarters is the Holiday Inn Express on 321. Pretty incredible site.

Is it just starting? Pictures? We just got my late grandfather's Model T running last year and just drove it in the parade in Carthage, NC where I grew up.

Cool!

I need to talk with you. My wife and I have her Dad's 1915 Touring Copperhead T in storage. We hope to completely restore it, but we don't have a strategy mapped out yet. All things considered, it's in great shape for a mere 100 years of age. Virtually no rust anywhere. We plan to restore it from top to street and from bumper to bumper. That's current thinking, anyway. :D

BTW, the Model T Ford Club International's "show on wheels" will spend the day in Wilkesboro on Wednesday. The site will be at the Wilkes Heritage Museum in downtown (the old Wilkes County Courthouse & Old Wilkes Jail). It should be a show within itself to catch that "convoy" moving up and down 421 if the weather's good. Otherwise the cars will ride in their custom haulers. Many of them will, anyway.
