ASU alum and current students may find this of interest, especially since no article like this has been published before. There are some items missing and I'm still working on filling in the gaps so feel free to provide any information that might be of help - Kenneth Reece (ASN on air broadcast member 1998-2002)

I remember the Feb 1, 2008 ice storm. Branches were snapping like crazy outside and they sounded like gun shots. I started Fall 2005 and that was my first full-day cancellation.
I believe February 11, 2010 was a full-day because App hosted Davidson that night and I remember that day as a cancellation.

Spring Break 1993 lasted two weeks thanks to the "No Name storm that churned up the west coast of Florida. I got back from Key West on Friday morning and by Saturday morning there was 36 inches of snow on the ground. Curfews were enforced and roads up the mountain were closed for days.

Attended 1975-79. Believe we were closed for first day after return from either Christmas/New Years or maybe Spring break due to snow. Anyone remember this?

January of 1996, coming off of winter break, class was cancelled for a few days, because of a snow storm. I'm thinking it was 18 inches. Like in 1993, nobody was able to get back up the mountain.

I thought the April '87 closing was three days. I measured 42" of snow behind Gardner Hall.

I was there '72-'76 and the only closing I remember was after one the winter breaks when snow kept everyone off the mountain. Don't remember the year but no one could get back to boone so classes were delayed.

Maybe, my folks took my brother back to school and got snowbound. I watched
the Raiders-Vikings Super Bowl with my oldest brother at home in
Charlotte. 1/9/77.
Seemed like it was a big story, cancellation and stuff.

Thank you, great find!
I can vouch for Jan 85.
Walked from 2 blocks above old baseball field home plate to
old Walker Business College. Swear on my soul my eyelids
froze shut. Made the 8:00 Finance Class and they called classes
at 8:20. Graduate Prof made all 3 of us stay, I asked for an exam
question and he agreed. Made my D- and graduated that August!!!

I was a senior in HS and took a college day to visit App (my girlfriend) on the Friday before this storm. I was snowed in until the following Tuesday. I rememebr we measured 3ft outside of Daughton and the drifts were actually over the lower floor windows. That weekend ranks on my list as one of the all time greats at App for me. It was my initiation into the party life App style. I know classes were canceled on that Monday for sure.
