Love "admissions season"
Love this time of year. Everybody in my, and my wife's, professional and personal lives know that we're huge App fans. This time of year I get a lot of enjoyment as they come to me proudly to announce that their child, niece, or nephew just got accepted to App and are planning to attend.
Just this morning one of our production supervisors came to my office first thing to let me know his daughter had received her acceptance letter and that App was her first choice even though she had an offer to play softball at a smaller school. Love to see the enthusiasm for our school!

I dropped out in 2012 and just found out I can reapply for Spring 2020, however I will probably start this upcoming summer. My goal is to complete the Online Communications Studies degree. It's never too late, kids! #TIGMA

I wasn't even aware that App was offering online degrees now. Maybe it's time I finish up as well.

Re: Love "admissions season"
I loved it every year except last year when one of my coworkers came up to me telling me about how terrible App was and how dangerous it was and she wouldn't allow her daughter to go there. The amount of restraint I had to have that day is unparalleled to this day.

I would have replied: “Well, what is your standard of reference? Dangerous compared to what?”ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 1:49 pmI loved it every year except last year when one of my coworkers came up to me telling me about how terrible App was and how dangerous it was and she wouldn't allow her daughter to go there. We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

Oh I did, I spewed off every statistic and real life example I could think of, but she was one of those "facts don't matter, this is my opinion and I'm sticking to it" kind of people.scatman77 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 1:54 pmI would have replied: “Well, what is your standard of reference? The most dangerous thing to do is to laugh at someone else falling, cause then you are going down soon.Overcashed wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 2:41 pmI think the most dangerous thing in Boone might be slipping on ice.

I lived in Frank one of those years that the entire town was coated in a clear sheet of ice. Everything, and I do mean everything was covered with black ice. A few of us sat in the lobby with snacks for over an hour watching a live version of America's Funniest Videosbiggie wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 2:50 pmThe most dangerous thing to do is to laugh at someone else falling, cause then you are going down soon.Overcashed wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 2:41 pmI think the most dangerous thing in Boone might be slipping on ice.

Re: Love "admissions season"
There is a Facebook Vlogging family who has a son who is attending App State. Apparently he had been wanting to attend since he Freshman year in High School and they are from Florida.
Show is calling "Fathering Autism with Lauren Brazzee". The son is a long snapper and has quite a following on his photography page. Could be a solid opportunity to broadcast App to the world considering he has around 68,000 followers on Instagram and App State Football's videos on Facebook only get around 1,000 to 2,000 views.

LOL. In my 40 years since showing up on campus in Boone, I've never, not once, heard anyone say it was dangerous. Things happen on every college campus just as they happen everywhere in life.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 1:49 pmI loved it every year except last year when one of my coworkers came up to me telling me about how terrible App was and how dangerous it was and she wouldn't allow her daughter to go there. My guess is her daughter wasn’t accepted. Good Lord for I’d her daughter went to a school in an urban settingArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Fri Dec 20, 2019 1:49 pmI loved it every year except last year when one of my coworkers came up to me telling me about how terrible App was and how dangerous it was and she wouldn't allow her daughter to go there. It's no more dangerous in Boone than it is anywhere else. I've been a firefighter for 33 years and paramedic for 28. If she needs proof tell her to come talk to me.Rick83 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 9:04 amLOL. In my 40 years since showing up on campus in Boone, I've never, not once, heard anyone say it was dangerous. Re: Love "admissions season"
I work at a small, private Christian University and I can assure everyone that no matter what college someone attends they will deal with the same issues and be faced with similar pressures. So many people believe that just because I work at a Christian affiliated institution that certain things would never happen and it shocks them when I tell them otherwise. At the end of the day EVERY college is dealing with the challenges every 18-22 year old faces.

Re: Love "admissions season"
I've never heard the terms Boone and dangerous put in the same sentence. Not once have I felt unsafe in Boone; I can't say the same for my time living in Greenville, Greensboro, Charlotte, or Raleigh.ASU84 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 21, 2019 10:48 amIt's no more dangerous in Boone than it is anywhere else. Not sure what that persons definition of dangerous is.
