Expect a ground-breaking, photo-op ceremony on some bitter-cold December day and the razing of Owens Fieldhouse to follow during the winter. By late next summer, the old "crane" joke will be back in vogue. "What's the official bird of the App State campus? Why, the crane...construction crane...of course. Things going away will include Owens Fieldhouse and the rubber track surface in KBS. What will be built--and where--will evolve over time as site prep landscapers, engineers and architects dig into the project with the senior athletic admin. Fear not, it's all good

Dozens of us have our own pet projects and brainstorms about what to do, but in the final analysis, Doug Gillin and his brain-trust in the Athletics Center will be making the calls. Support them with all your might and, of course, your pledges. Pauletta and I have made a five-year pledge to the campaign and we'll do more if we can find a way. We challenge each Mountaineer to make a pledge--as much as you can. Be your pledge large or small, it all adds to the fund's growth and makes us all part of the solution. Do It, gals and guys!
