When I was in school (88-93) the rumor was that the Boone ABC was the highest grossing store in the State. Never saw any proof of that claim, but I certainly heard it all the time. Lord knows I did my best to keep the sales high.

Not sure about Boone ABC but in 1970-75 the Blowing Rock ABC store was the highest grossing in the state....Only one in Watagua County.

You're welcome, Boone and Watauga County. Enjoy the tax dollars on that as well as those on food, fuel, lodging, grocery, clothing, general merchandise, etc.

This report from the state ABC for FY '14-'15 suggests we're still up there. Possibly the highest. I don't see a single store that grossed more that year, but they don't break down the per-store performance in the larger counties.
