No, that's what it's all about- eliminating and/or ruining tradition.appgrouch wrote:The parade is now at 6pm on Friday Night.
In the political correct days, should we just do away with homecomings?

hmm growing up, univ's where the old man coached, usually had their parades the evening before. Helped eliminate a lot of logistical headaches the day of the game.... for Boone, probably a good thing... gets a bit cramped...

Participation trophies didn't begin with Millenials. The trophy store back in the day had to stay open year round somehow. Only selling first place trophies weren't keeping those doors open. That whole narrative is a tad overhyped.moonshine wrote:No don't get rid of homecoming. Tack on an additional fee to tuition that will pay for 18,000 trophies so everybody gets one.

The parade was going to be on Friday last year, but the horrible weather cancelled it.
Not going to get my dander up about something I didn't care about beforehand.
The funny thing about the "everyone gets a trophy" argument in this case is that they're actually giving out one less trophy from now on.

Homecoming King and Queen seems high schoolish, I'd rather listen to the band for an additional 5 minutes anyway.

Heartache and pain = growth and maturity. Doing away with all heartache = weak individual = liberal

Next time you hear a leftist rant about "climate change deniers," just remind them of their stance on penis vs vagina if they accuse you of rejecting science.

Can I get my two teenage boys involved in field hockey now so that they might get scholarships? They isn't a men's team and they should be allowed to play.moonshine wrote:No gender restrictions!?! That is awesome news!
Now we can get rid of title IX along with men's and women's sports, merge them and allow the best athletes to earn scholarships based on their own merit. Think of the cost savings for not having 2 bball teams, 2 soccer teams etc...Who would be the winners and losers in this true equality non-gender set up? It's purely based on each individual's performance!

I'm not sure why this is such a big deal. Nobody really cared about Homecoming King or Queen, so why care now? If the university chooses to do this, then so be it. I'm there for the game and to see old friends, not to see what kid wins a crown and title.

Agree with HapApp, Just eliminate the entire homecoming halftime festivities and let the BOD play. We don't get to hear them enough as it is with all the piped in music these days.

Never paid much attention to Homecoming king/Queen/ Court. Should just do away with it but this now is just plain stupid. We have taken a High school event and turned it into a middle school event. If that is what they want though it's ok with me. It will give me time to to to the mens room and still not miss the band.
