I had a buddy who lived in Newland Hall for three years and had Stadium parking pass each year. He was rather slack and liked to sleep in, so out of 18 possible Saturdays over those 3 years where moving his car was needed, he ended up having to retrieve his car out of the impound lot at least 6 times that I know of.TheMoody1 wrote:I had to move my car out of the stadium lot on game days in the early 80's. No breaking news here.

Re: Parking
We did the same for our daughter in the 2002-04 time frame - her lot was over beside the Red Onion but at that time I don't think she had to move her car on game days ---App74 wrote:I have been paying $750 per year for my daughter to park in a private lot adjacent to the campus. Why you ask? In a word, safety.
The private lot guarantees her a parking spot 24/7 EXCEPT ON GAME DAYS. Neither she nor I have a problem with that.

Re: Parking
Same with us. We don't have to move the vehicle but the spot is not guaranteed on game days. She's a senior this year so we can do the Stadium lot.WVAPPeer wrote:We did the same for our daughter in the 2002-04 time frame - her lot was over beside the Red Onion but at that time I don't think she had to move her car on game days ---App74 wrote:I have been paying $750 per year for my daughter to park in a private lot adjacent to the campus. Re: Parking
When I was in school, Harmon parking behind Raley was the hot spot -- especially if you were COB. The younger Harmon would go out & check the permits in full Revolutionary War attire. Hilarious.

Re: Parking
This is why I suggested building a parking deck on the site of Winkler Hall. All the students that live on campus could park there year round, and not have to move their cars on Saturday. Also, it would give us a nice big flat piece of land to build a track on at State Farm. .clayton wrote:NewApp wrote:So basically they have to leave campus with their vehicle or join the Yosef club. Maybe that's why so many go home on weekends.brocktune90 wrote:http://parking.appstate.edu/football-parking-students
It is kind of annoying. You paid for a space in Stadium/Greenwood/Rivers Street/wherever and you can't park there on game days.
But, most of the students who have on-campus permits don't live on campus. They use the permits to drive to class on Monday-Friday. So, they don't have to move their cars, they simply don't get to drive to their normal spot on game-days.
Most on-campus students with cars are parked at State Farm anyway. The on-campus students who leave their cars in on-campus lots do have to move their cars on Friday night/Saturday morning. They come back with rides from friends or the Appalcart. Again, it's annoying. But, not that big of a deal.
And most students don't have parking passes at all. Most students can easily access campus via the Appalcart.
I do see why professors who wish to go to their office on Saturday would be annoyed. But, its six days out of a whole year.
