And These pictures still have the green end zones ---Gonzo wrote:We've been told track removal is in line soon. It seems inevitable given that this end zone structure is sitting on a portion of the track, making it useless for track meets, so I assume it's happening as part of this enhancement.
Will I ever see a rendering of a potential KB Stadium enhancement that goes to the trouble of removing the track? Is it that hard to depict, graphic design-wise?
We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Well it makes sense to exercise restraint. Until a location is confirmed to place the track, we have to move forward (in this case with renderings) assuming the track will stay where it is...otherwise we overzealous fanatics will take it as a done deal that the track is gone.Gonzo wrote:We've been told track removal is in line soon. Re: New $60MM Athletic Campaign
That makes sense but even in the rendering above the track is useless so if above is the bare minimum they would still need a new track facility it appears. I'm just hoping they don't seriously think about building it over the track.APPdiesel wrote:Well it makes sense to exercise restraint. Here is a quick paint job to give an idea of what KBS would look like without a track and before seats are added.

East side needs to be moved closer to the field eliminating the track ,which would mean either tearing down or continuing the top section angle toward the field .

Very impressive as you guys have one of the most attractive venues in football with the facility and backdrop.

Yes, the figures are conceptual and will definitely change based on final costs. The drawings are to give the fan base an concept of what the end zone piece may look like. The dorm pictured is a new dorm, not a renovation. The information regarding the previous campaign is not accurate. The original 50 mil goal was not met because the end zone project was put on hold and goal was not adjusted to reflect the hold.AppDawg wrote:These are big $$$'s. Curious to know the amount already raised by silent donors.
The 2007-2008 Facilities Enhancement Campaign raised just $32 million & the $200 mil Campiagn for Appalachian fell $8 million short of its $50 million goal.
This is both of those campaigns wrapped up in one and all occurring within 10 years of each other.
Personally, I would like priorities 1 & 2 to be establish 2 endowment funds. The first to fully fund athletic scholarships and the second to fund coaches salaries. Once that is done anything above and beyond go to facilities.
Agree with Saint. This will show what the fan base is made of.

No one has stated that "track removal" is part of this. It's only been said that we will relocate track and field to a new facility. Demoing the entire track and putting field turf in its place is probably not that cheap. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Re: New $60MM Athletic Campaign
Possible solutions might depend on what your goal is. If you want to bring the stands closer to the field, I assume that would be a pretty major project. If you just want to eliminate the track as an eyesore, you could just paint it black/green/white along the sides, add some seating (or move the hill closer) on the ends and be done with it.Appftw wrote:No one has stated that "track removal" is part of this. Is it really a "demo?" It couldn't be any more invasive than tearing up a road. Jack hammers and bull dozers.
If it's not that cheap it's still worth the price. Get it OUT.
