Re: Changes to homecoming format
I guess it's only a matter of time before someone finds Yosef offensive because a male mascot is supposed to represent an entire student population.
Some of you thought the Gorton's Fisherman logo was bad...just wait until it's gender neutral humanoid figure with a buzz cut and shaved face.

The university would never allow that to happen. The decisions of homecoming are made by the students. Pointless competition IMO.S.Lewis15 wrote:I guess it's only a matter of time before someone finds Yosef offensive because a male mascot is supposed to represent an entire student population.

It's more likely that we'd see Yosef and Yosefina ... kinda like NCSU's wolf mascots or Clemson's tigers. If Yosefina gets to fire the rifle, sign me up! I'm a really good shot!S.Lewis15 wrote:I guess it's only a matter of time before someone finds Yosef offensive because a male mascot is supposed to represent an entire student population.

BTW - one thing I picked up on the UT board was their use of an "off" color as the sarcasm font. In their case, it's blue. With our love of Furman and WCU, I figured our sarcasm font should be purple.

If serving is beneath you, then leading is beyond you.

I like the purple sarcasm font idea! Excellent idea!
I think some folks need to figure out that sarcastic comments do not require corrective statements. Maybe this would help.

It was tried at Auburn in 1999. The new mascot basically got booed off the field. We see a pic of him from time to time. He kind of looks like the Shoneys Big Boy with App flannel./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:The university would never allow that to happen. The decisions of homecoming are made by the students. I'm the dude that was awarded a truck from Wells Fargo and Discovery Chevrolet at last year's Arkansass State game. I actually would hate the attention of the homecoming whatever, was just trying to make a point. I think we all know it won't be me.appbio91 wrote:Yea, you should be nominated. This made me think of the show Community. For those that never saw it, the community college's mascot was a human being.S.Lewis15 wrote:I guess it's only a matter of time before someone finds Yosef offensive because a male mascot is supposed to represent an entire student population.
