Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
Looks like the Georgia Southern crowd is putting together who they play in the SB next year according to this thread:
http://www.csnbbs.com/showthread.php?tid=651022
Anyone have any thoughts on our conferecence home and away games?
So far the only thing I have seen is this:
Tentative 2014 Football Schedule
Aug. 30 - at Michigan (the Reckoning)
Sept. 6 - Campbell
Expected Sun Belt divisional games - Georgia State, Louisiana-Lafayette, South Alabama, Troy, Western Kentucky, Stink

Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
From what I've gathered from several sources, App hosts UL-Monroe, and so far is at Troy and UL-Lafayette. Per another board, we won't play Texas State. Will be excited to see the 1st App FBS schedule.

Maybe an OOC game is possible with them.appmaj wrote:Deano wrote:If we have either Troy or WKU at Boone, those will be some great games to watch.

Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
Just an FYI- there won't be any divisions next year due to having only 11 teams, and WKU will be in CUSA. We will play 8 conference games and we know Tx. State won't be one of them. That's mean we will play at least one game against either Idaho or NWSU.Deano wrote:Looks like the Georgia Southern crowd is putting together who they play in the SB next year according to this thread:

It would be nice to beat Monroe at home after they knocked off Wake in Winston Salem this year.luvyosef wrote:From what I've gathered from several sources, App hosts UL-Monroe, and so far is at Troy and UL-Lafayette. With all the potential changes coming down the pipe - we may not have many FBS schedules before we are in the proverbial FCS again.luvyosef wrote:From what I've gathered from several sources, App hosts UL-Monroe, and so far is at Troy and UL-Lafayette. Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
The biggest difference is that, while we may be in the 2nd tier again, we will be with schools that are closer to us in type and size instead of the small, private schools that the SoCon is filled with and seems to prefer. They will be the new D-II with less scholarships if things play out as predicted. Of course all it takes is one or two surprises and it could throw everything out of wack. We're now just along for the ride.Yosef wrote:With all the potential changes coming down the pipe - we may not have many FBS schedules before we are in the proverbial FCS again.luvyosef wrote:From what I've gathered from several sources, App hosts UL-Monroe, and so far is at Troy and UL-Lafayette. Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
I agree, I wouldn't have gave a flip if we moved or not if the SoCon would have still had schools with 15-25k students, but what's the potential of recognition playing noname private schools with 2000 students?firemoose wrote:

We may never get to play in the "title" game (who knows?), but we should get to play in some bowls that someone even has an interest to watch. One thing's for certain about the SB being in the "FCS division of the FBS", the SoCon (and FCS) has even sunk further behind. I guess they could say the "peewee division of the FBS", lol.

Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
If we are playing at Troy I would assume that means South Alabama will be coming to Boone in 2014. Georgia Southern seems to think they will host us in 2014 if that is the case I'd expect Georgia State in Boone potentially.

@ Troy, GSU, and ULL
and USA, GA St, and ULM at home.
That shapes up to be an extremely difficult schedule every other year with all the tougher opponents on the road.
I believe we will play both Idaho and NMSU the first year, new guys all play each other that way.

The SoCon absolutely has and will continue to go south ---
The FCS, I don't think so - more victories over FBS teams early this season including a couple of top 25 wins and College Game Day at North Dakota State --- I think the top programs will continue to be top programs - the also-rans will take a big hit I do believe ---

T-Dog says Idaho at home and Ark St on the road. But, I agree that's a tough sked on the road especially when you add in Michigan.Saint3333 wrote:@ Troy, GSU, and ULL

Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
Hopefully that rotation will change once a 12th member is added and we go to a divisional format. Of course we have to keep in mind there won't be as many "easy" weeks once we move up anyway. We'll be in a dog fight almost every week.asu66 wrote:hapapp wrote:T-Dog says Idaho at home and Ark St on the road. Re: 2014 Sun Belt schedules
nothing official, but based on "hearsay" i.e. surfing the web it'll be:
SBC Home - Idaho, UL-Monroe, South Alabama, Ga State
SBC Road - Troy, Ark State, UL-Lafayette, and Ga Southern
App would miss Texas St - confirmed and N Mexico State
2 OOC scheduled: at Michigan, Campbell
need 2 more OOC

Thanks for the Information luvyosef, I wonder if we still need to schedule 2 more OOC games would a Socon opponent be one of those and if so who do we still want to play from the Socon. Do we go with an easy team like Western Carolina or do we go with someone who would give us a much tougher battle like Furmen, UTC or Samford?
The last OOC spot would be nice to have someone local as in Wake Forest, UNCC or even ECU (even though they are further away).
