Benson mentioned at the App and GS press conference that it will happen soon. Cobb said on the DG show today that name may change to Sun something else.

I guess it can't really be the Sun Belt anymore if you have Idaho in your conference...

Benson also mentioned "his" Twitter alias where mock-ups of the new logo could be viewed--but I didn't understand what he said and haven't been able to dig it out of the 'net. And ALGORE isn't available today to find it for us!

They have "Sun Valley," America's first destination ski resort in the west!

The Commish announced last year that the re-branding would be effective July 1, 2013 as I recall. I think the Sun Belt re-branding will be along the lines of the MAC and PAC12 re-branding . . same name . . different logo.

That's what I got from his statement. I thought maybe I missed something about the name actually changing, but I was just thinking a logo update.

Changing that logo is good. This one looks like something a fifth grader would draw for a solar system science project!

"SATURN BELT?"

I think after visiting App, Benson decided to change the official colors of the SunBelt to Black and Gold!

If someone posted about this I missed it. Did anyone else catch where Benson mentioned visiting APP at an earlier date? So things had been going on behind the scences.

He said he visited a couple weeks before it was made official. Can't remember where I read it now but he talked about how Boone wasn't nearly as inaccessible as people made it out to be. Also talked about how short and nice the drive was from Charlotte compared to some others he has had to do visiting schools.
