Black Saturday and the "V" Word ---

For those who are relatively new and/or those who have forgotten, here's the back story --- My buddy Black Saturday had a really hard time accepting the loss in the playoffs to Villanova a few years ago. I worked on him for probably 2 years trying to get him to "see the light" - Villanova was better than APP that day, they were the defending National Champs and got all their star players back healthy for our game. We didn't lose the game, they won the game. So during that period, I "forbid" him to say "The V Word" (Villanova). He finally "came around" ... Whew ---

Well I am here to say, that if the "V" word (Villanova) wins the basketball game tonight, Black Saturday will be absolved and thereby free to say VILLANOVA any time he wishes !!!

The Dude Abides --- :D

Can't pull for Nova....I wish my in state school the best no matter how arrogant the fans are sometimes.... Plus They (Nova) is in Philly, home of the Eagles, the biggest bunch of bozo fans I've ever seen and I wouldn't pee on them if they were burning.

What do you want. A cookie?

They should be on probation, but they did a rope-a-dope with the NCAA in order to win this title. And it blew up in their face. Karma's a motha@&;€-!

Funny that you say that as if you don't want to commit to it.

Coach, Coach,...Coach......
I've been pretty good for a few years minding my own business, now you've smoked me out...bringing up that game that should be #1 of disappointing APP football losses of all time. That loss still chaps heck out of me. How many of our kids on that team ended up spending time in the pros or in their camps??? Way more than that team from Philadelphia ...where Mother is only half a word by the way... Our staff didn't have a clue...as Coach Elliot said in The Big House describing Big Blue on that hallowed day in September of '07....Good thing we've (APP) moved up and grown up and can now make adjustments when needed in games. :D

BTW-I saw Vanillanova smother UNC-Cheaters fast break and win the basketball championship, but I'm under self imposed sanctions not to mention the V-word for a while longer at least until the sting of APP not playing in and winning a football NC that season game goes away.............................................................

By the way, for those of us who really wanted to see the cheats go down what could have been better? Nothing!!! - A knife to the heart at the buzzer - One they will never forget!!! - The V will always hold a special place in my heart for that :D :D :D

Well rekdiver, I grew up a mile away from Villanova.....I was the most angry App fan in the stadium when we lost ......for over 15 years I bragged about App State football and finally I get a chance to show my family and friends how great App is...... Then the Villanova oline ran up and down the field and one player named Czesar killed us..... I am sorry if you have met a bad philly fan, thousands of us are great people......., btw, Villanova is in one of the wealthiest parts of the country and has an education to match ....Augustianian Catholic school..... And Jay Wright was my grad assistant coach in college.

I lived in Norristown for 2 years (6th & 7th grades) and really enjoyed my interactions with kids my age and adults. Some of the best hoagies (Call it a sub and they laugh at you) and all kinds of wooder (water) ice.

I was actually neighbors with Mike Piazza's cousin. She wore Dodgers gear daily.

Jerry Spinelli is also from Norristown. The author of the classic that should still be read in schools Maniac Magee
