UNC is "blue" over attendance

UNC officials recognize football attendance is an "issue". They think one reason may be "the opponents haven't been especially attractive". Now that is insightful; whom would have thought such?

Yeah, lots of truth to the "just win" mantra expressed in the article. However, until winning starts up, how about scheduling some teams from NC with a good traveling fan base. Hmmmmm, could App fit that profile ? ;)

Sounds like a damn good idea to me. Although given our success and their decline, we should only do this type of deal if it is a home-and-home. Or they can meet us in Charlotte :D

This line addressed their biggest problem along with poor OOC scheduling.

There are broader reasons, too, that are often provided to explain UNC’s attendance woes: the lack of an established “football culture”...

They could always pad the numbers a little more, no?

What problem would that solve?

Ticket prices maybe. Looks like the least expensive is $43

It's kinda been their thing in the past. Maybe get a prof and a few tutors to help.

Could it be that more of their alumni don't approve of their shenanigans than what they are letting on? Of course, the Walmart fan doesn't care. They view the heels the same way they view the Dallas Cowboys. But many of the folks who went there may be embarrassed enough to vote with their feet. Getting caught cheating is one thing. Getting caught cheating and trying to cover it up is another. Getting caught cheating, trying to cover it up, all the while preaching that they are the ones who have always done it "the right way" is a third. Getting caught cheating, trying to cover it up, all the while preaching they are the ones who have always done it the right way, but giving every appearance that it's really just business as usual going forward, might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Ticket price has an enormous amount to do with it. Stadiums jack their prices up year in and year out and add amenities to justify it..yeah that's cool and all, but consumers' disposable income is shrinking...it's not hard to say "$150 used to buy me a season ticket, now it only buys me 3 games...guess I'll go to 3 then". Now you've got an empty seat 3 games a year. Multiply that by a couple thousand people in the same situation and you get this: (PS I know this photo is probably a spring game, just making a point) Image

Daddy has the money. It's more a matter of not wanting to be seen as 1-Irrelevant or 2-Corrupt, much less BOTH. And of course, basketball practice starts in 3 days.

Playing this bunch doesn't give us any credibility-heck, they've played Liberty, Furple, and A&T, and have scheduled Concord. I doubt Saturdays game against Delaware will be SRO. I could give a rat's if they ever play us.

You are absolutely wrong. Playing the flagship state university absolutely gives us credibility. Especially if we can convince them to play in Boone.

I "Absolutely" disagree. Just because they are the "flagship" it doesn't mean we should beg them for their approval or the chance to play with us. Do the aforementioned schools have more credibility than us? With the exception of recent ECU football, UNC Cheat has historically dodged in-state programs in several sports that might beat them. They are not a traditional football power and when was their last NCAA football championship.....conference championship...?
While I'd love to play them at the Rock, I'm not holding my breath, nor am I chasing them around for 50 years thinking that just by being on the same field with them, we are somehow a more legitimate program. That's garbage.

I still like idea of playing them when they're down just a bit...or better yet not necessarily waiting until they're a top 10 program to schedule them because a win over UNC is a win is a win. Besides, with scheduling being 4-10 years out you never know where a program will be when you finally play.

My point is playing UNC, NC State, ECU, Duke, regularly - no matter exactly where each program is at the time - elevates our program's status. To be the PROVEN best team in your state/region means something.
