I hadn't heard anything about this previously - doesn't sound good for the Blazers

I saw something on this the other day. I just can't wrap my head around UAB being forced to drop football. If I were to venture a guess, I'd say it's a way for the Blazers to try and generate donations. Let's pretend this actually plays out and UAB drops football. What does CUSA do?
Give them a waiver to try and keep their b-ball program and bring in UMASS as football only to stay at 14???
Kick them to the curb (A-10 presumably) leaving them with 13 members and a decision on who to poach next (ULL, Ark St., TX St, GaSt {market} or JMU)
Decide they don't want more than 12 members due to the CFP payout and force UNCC out (since they haven't began FBS play). Thus leading the Sun Belt to boot Idaho, bring in NMSU all sports and pick up UNCC (another big market for the Sun Belt) so App has a traveling partner for the west teams and KB gets the championship game he's been campaigning for.
Speculation is fun, especially after cracking open the jar!

My guess is JMU's hold out strategy might pay off if UAB actually drops FB.

I think there will be some big legal battles before this is settled even if Tuscaloosa tells them they have to drop football.

JMU is going to be picked up by CUSA before an established FBS program?
They don't have the money or market to pull that off.

I would LMAO if they take GaSt. I wouldn't be surprised with their market and bball but it still would be funny.

My dream is that if UAB does drop football, that CUSA decides they want to be at 12. As a result, they push a team out, and that teams joins the Sun Belt. That team is Southern Miss. Yes, they have been down since Fedora took his talents to UNC-CHeat, but they have enough going for them to be good again.
Of course, this is just a dream. If UA forced them to drop football, I imagine Saint's right with the legal battles. So, a change would be slow. I'm just not sure that adding ULL or stAte is more valuable than CUSA than being at 12. Of course, if they took GSU, that would be hilarious--though, I'll miss having a short trip to ATL for road games.

Looks like it might be happening according to CBS Sports:
BREAKING NEWS According to multiple reports, Alabama-Birmingham fires its AD and will shut down the football program.

Because UNCC.
And that CUSA would likely get a western team as replacement to balance things out division-wise.

Is that speculation or fact?

There are no facts at this point, but the speculation is that if they want to add they will take someone who fits in the west.

UAB was moving from East to West in CUSA to accommodate UNCC. CUSA probably won't want to keep UAB if they don't have football. They did kick out UNCC for not having football in 2005.
CUSA will have a number of schools wanting to move.

Honestly, SBC looks a little more solvent than CUSA. And I like that they WANTED us! Let's just go get some players from UAB to help us and I would consider that a win.
