More NCAA Stupidity

Unread post by newtoasu » Thu Aug 22, 2013 12:37 pm

Just read a story about the NCAA denying a request for a student who transferred, due to a family hardship, to be allowed to play without sitting out the normal one year period.

It appears that having a father (stroke victim) and brother (colon cancer victim) die in the span of two months and wanting to transfer to be closer to Mom in the Bronx (transfer from Iowa State to Rutgers)is not a hardship in the eyes of the NCAA. Had the two been sick and not died, it would have met the requirements.

I just don't get how bureaucratic institutions like the NCAA keep shooting themselves in the PR foot by not using common sense, understanding and in this case a little compassion.
