Davidson rolled out a new logo.

I hope our athletic department never does something as bad as this for a rebrand

(I know the university made some not so good changes this summer)

Why would ever use a Wildcat for a rebrand? It’s not even our colors.

I liked the old one more, just because it was more uniquely theirs.

People need to stop hiring “expert design firms” that make generic logos.

it's not particularly bad, but it's not particularly good either. Kind of like the university's new Taco Bell logo.

Ad agencies and design firms are sometimes too quick to tout periodic re-branding, especially in situations where tradition and history are important such as with a university.

Ad agencies are quick to help you with new branding as they see dollar signs.
Many are great...but, like any industry, some not so much.

Totally not necessary….

What happens is somebody new decides they want to make a change to say they are doing something, so they hire a firm or somebody to create something new/different. Just to say they did something. May be better, same or worse than previous but they now say this did something. Many times it is a waste of money.

Not sure what's worse:

• This logo looking like generic clip art in PowerPoint? OR...

• Davidson paying some consulting firm a pile of money to come up with it?

On the bright side, they'll never have to worry about this image offending anyone. EVER.

Looking at the Davidson message board, their fans actually like it.

It’s their logo, I guess if they like it that’s all that matters.
