Ultimate Insult
Not that I have alot of sympathy for unc-C, but isn't it a terrible statement for the Charlotte Athletic Foundation to schedule and promote a UNC-South Carolina game at Bank of America Stadium on the first day the 49ers begin FBS play in 2015? Seems to me like the city of Charlotte is saying "Have fun in your little stadium up there, but we'll pack BofA to watch the Tarheels." Niner fans have to hate this reminder that they'll never even be the favorite team in their hometown.

Re: Ultimate Insult
well, I dont think the main reason the tarheeels are playing the game in Charlotte ia just to prove a point to the 49ers that they are the main attraction in the 49ers backyard, but I do think its an added bonus not lost on the Carolina administration. I agree with you I have no love for UNCC, and if they crashed and burned tomarrow, I wouldnt shed a tear, but your right, this is their big day, they deserve the stage to themselves for atleast 1 weekend, and yet here comes the Tarheels/Gamecocks. I sorry, but they could have found a way to, play this game at a later date, or go to either Chapel Hill or SC. I think they are playing this game becouse they really dont give a dam about any of the supposely "secondary schools", App included, in either NC or SC. They are going to do what they want, when they want, everyone else be damed!!

Yeah there's not way this was malicious intent from the Holes. Never the less, it will take every bit of publicity from their opening day. They just got bumped from the front page of the CO Sunday paper for sure.

Perhaps you should look at a schedule before you post these general assumptions. This game is on 9/5/2015 we are playing that week on 9/3/2015 against Georgia State in Atlanta.

Afineniner,
Ok. Opening WEEK. Bottom line is that Charlotte embraces the Tarholes, and you guys are literally and figuratively along the outskirts. I knew UNCC was going to be away that week, but it hardly makes it better. It's another big party at your house, and you are not invited.

Re: Ultimate Insult
The unusual aspect of having football probably means they will have some larger crowds at first.
The first couple of seasons will probably be no great indicator in fact.

You are really exaggerating the issue here. The city and stadium has been putting on these opening games for years now, even before had a team. Charlotte hosts the ACC Championship and Belk Bowl, how much should I look into that? If the scum in Chapel Hole make this a regular occurrence, then I will get upset.
Bottom line is we need worry about us and our product on the field before we get angry about some game going on 2 nights after we play in Atlanta. I think this ESPN insider article piece, puts it in perspective for us:
ESPN Top 5 Spring Practices Off The Radar
Charlotte 49ers
2012 record: N/A
Reason to care: The recruiting crystal ball
How does a program that has yet to play a snap garner even the slightest bit of attention from the big-money, BCS-backed programs of the ACC and SEC? Location, location, location.
"The Charlotte area has always been this kind of free-for-all recruiting war zone," says a nearby ACC recruiting coordinator. "You look at all the five-star guys who have come out of there over the last 20 years. Chris Leak, Hakeem Nicks, Jadeveon Clowney, Mohamed Massaquoi, it goes on and on. It's a crazy-good list. And they have always been scattered all over the place."
Why? Because, despite being in a million-plus market, there has never been a hometown university football team to keep those kids in Charlotte. Now there will be. The 49ers are a long way from competing head-to-head with Georgia, Florida or the Triangle schools for talent, but the program's construction curve has already been accelerated beyond its original slow-grow plan. It will plays its first-ever game Aug. 31 of this year and will join FBS-level Conference USA in 2015.
"Their new stadium is gorgeous, and Coach [Brad] Lambert proved during his time at Wake Forest that he can recruit with limited resources or without much history of success to sell," former North Carolina coach Butch Davis explained to me this past fall, also pointing to Appalachian State's decision to move up to FBS and East Carolina's jump to the Big East.
"It will take a while to build that program, but anything that alters the balance of power when it comes to those kids coming out of Charlotte has a chance to really upset the apple cart down the road."
