And the last bit of the once great ship has slipped beneath the Atlantic waves.

I'm just picturing the SoCon right now as a giant office building that is set for an implosion demolition and it is about to come crashing down

Amazing what has happened within the last several months. The SoCon has lost its two best football and two best basketball programs. Going to look very different. There are rumors of Elon to the CAA. One wonders how many folks will be looking to find new homes.

And they add the weakest FCS football program in VMI and two non programs to replace the most storied programs in the FCS. Wow. Just wow. It seems the presidents and front office have resigned themselves to being a nothing conference.

Welcome to the Southern Conference. Please, have a seat and make yourself at home!
You will find Imarino seated on his throne calling the shots. Sending the SoCon to the dumper.

How many schools are we going to have to add to this picture?

Might need to clone stamp the water to make room for more life boats.
Meanwhile, WCU is locked below deck with all the other poor folks. Very sad that they are doomed to die a cold death at the bottom of the north Atlantic.

Elon to the CAA would make for a nice one.
The Citadel and Furman remind me of that prehistoric squirrel in Ice Age, as long as they have their acorn (the Socon) to themselves, theyre happy, even if theyre drowning.

Iamarino said, "We'll be fine. We're going to bounce back, and I have every reason to believe that the Southern Conference will be a viable Division I conference for many years to come."

Here is another gem:
Jeff Hartsell @Jeff_fromthePC
#SoCon commish Iamarino on Davidson to A10 on Wed report: "Have heard nothing from Davidson. Would surprise me. Other than that, no comment"
Clueless as ever, gotta love Big Bird.

Hard not to have faith in that kind of leadership, isnt it?
I think its safe to say his days as commish are numbered.

When you hire a guy from a partial scholly football league this is the type of leadership you get. How long until UTC tries to jump ship to the OVC?

Was thinking the same thing. If that happens, it's a safe bet that they'd be grabbing ETSU as well. Rumor is also that Elon will be in the CAA shortly.
Potentially, that would mean the loss of 6 members and a top replacement candidate. Things could get really dicey if that happened.

If those two leave I wouldn't be surprised to see High Point and Winthrop join the league. The Big SoCon may soon be a reality.
