My occasional perusing of the UNCC board for a laugh really payed off today.

It is a thread devoted to the new "traditions" they will be starting this season. Yet another attempt to deny reality. A soul-less school desperately trying to convince everyone that they have tradition and history. What. A. Joke.

Also, thanks for keeping Jaquil warm for us. Hopefully he didn't go too soft before he steps on the field with a real football team.

I had never been to their site until today. I think it's funny how they say we are obsessed with them. Guess it takes quite a bit of lurking our site to know that, right?

I might add that the one who claims Gonzo is obsessed with them has a joke about App in his signature. Oh the irony.

Based on their home schedule, their stadium nickname should be "Fool's Gold." I understand the need for a new program to schedule in a few W"s, but when Gardner-Webb is your toughest home game, you may have overdone it. Even Charlotte fans are saying they shouldn't lose at home until ELON during their second season. ELON.
As far as a new tradition- Instead of having Sean Connery on the big scoreboard screen saying "Welcome to the Rock" they can have a clip of Goober Pyle saying, "Judy, Judy, Judy"

Well in response to this thread, UNCC fans (you know -- the fans of the school we're obsessed with ) have done a little digging and posted my personal twitter handle in addition to several pictures of me from my Instagram account. Looks like they also went through the Appalachian student directory and found the address of who they thought to be me, but it's actually some poor kid that shares the same name.

Talk about class. I'm a big fan of smack talk, as most of you know, but how far is too far?

I think it actually worked out in my favor. They've been talking about me for months (you know, since I'm obsessed with them an all), saying I'm some skinny kid living in my parents' basement. Needless to say, their research turned up otherwise.

Believe it or not, traditions don't have to be football specific. A lot of what we are doing is translating current traditions into the football experience.

Kudos for the Andy Griffith quote...hilarious episode.

Can't fault the UNCC fans for getting excited about finally having a football team. Let em have their fun. Until App plays them or we somehow end up in the same conference, who really cares??

we make fun of UNCC fans, Judy/administration, but I got to give them credit how they are handling Capels transfering to App. He was their biggest recruit in their first recruiting class, was rumored to be living up to the hype, and looked like he was going to be a really good player, this is a big hit to their program. Surprisingly, the majority of their fans are showing alot of maturity, wishing him well, and are saying good things about the kid.

For the most part, you're right though. Much classier than when they landed the kid in the first place. That event prompted gorilla-like chest beating.

Not very hard. He's a kid in college. He's gotta do what's best for him.

It's killing a couple of 49ers but most that posted are much more stoic than we would be about it!

As far as traditions, They have to start somewhere........There are some I'd like to dump we have ...especially the words to our fight song...........

Don't start with the Judy thing (although its funny as hell) or we will have to endure another round of Hot Hot Hot which will put me back in rehab...........

Yes! Classic.

App State traditions I would like to be rid of:

-The Yosemite Sam pistol hands that the students put on during free throws.
-The "It's great to be a Mountaineer" chant

Thing to add:
-An actual bell to ring on 3rd down instead of the sound effect.

But nothing like this
