Glad to see that the Griz should be back to their true form next year. Our JJ > their JJ. As long as Dan Moore isn't coming back I like our chances

Makes me wonder what could have been if Tanyi's case ever saw trial.*
Colorado State Most Valuable Player and All Conference in one year with the team.

*I have no idea if he was guilty of what he was accused of or not. If he was guilty... good riddance. But, there wasn't even enough evidence to bring the case to trial... much less of a conviction.

I'm still annoyed by that whole situation. The student courts acquitted him the first time! So stupid that you can renege on a decision like that just because the families cried about a "university cover-up" and dozens of facebook-advocate freshman felt like being involved in a protest. There was no evidence. Plain and simple.

Agreed. We were robbed of three likely all Americans because of viral faux activism. It appears App could learn a thing or two from UM regarding due process.

UM kicked him off the football team 2 years ago before trial, and fired the AD and HC. Where was the due process?Gonzo wrote:Agreed. We were robbed of three likely all Americans because of viral faux activism. It appears App could learn a thing or two from UM regarding due process.

That guy was pretty good -- especially for a freshman. He could run and throw equally well. Tough opener.

Re: Montana QB rejoins team
Montana fans already expecting a deep playoff run or NC.
I expect they'll have a rude awakening. They were 120 in the nation in Pass Defense last year, out of 121 FCS teams. 288 yards a game. They gave up about 380 yards a game total.
While we were terrible on D too, I expect we'll see a much more drastic improvement than Montana will.
Injuries and suspensions aside, we'd have been much better on D.
If we can get improved play from our safety position, I think we'll be pretty darn good.
It seemed like everytime Illinois St was 3rd and long, they targetted one position, over and over again. And they got it. They did it very smart too, because they didnt over use it, and force our coaches to make a change, when they really needed it, they went to it. Their HC really took it to dale jones.
Woody seems every bit as capable at DC as Satterfield is at OC. If we improve on defense 2012 to 2013, as much as we did on offense 2011 to 2012, we'll have a special team.

What makes everyone positive that JJ is their guy next year? Trent McKinney was VERY impressive in Boone last year, and that was after playing one game of D-1 football.

If I'm not mistaken McKinney lost his job late last season because of his issues turning the ball over. Trent is a very skilled player and athlete but couldn't take care of the ball. JJ should be starting if he's good to go.

Re: Montana QB rejoins team
JJ lead them to a NC in his freshman year. Who else has done that, Armanti, and I cant think of any other. They didnt even stick with McKinney for the entire season, somebody must not have been happy with him. Its interesting that the HC said he'd let JJ "try out." After kicking him off the team but proven innocent, you'd think he'd be back on without question.
With JJ, they would have won in Boone last year. But that said, offense was NOT their problem. It was their secondary. We lit them up, so did everyone else.
BTW, just a funny,
I had this discussion last year on AGS how I thought UM would have a down year, because they only returned 3 defensive starters, and no QB, and I got slammed by a griz fan or two, Ursus included, who said montana always reloaded, and history proved that they didnt have down years like other teams.

Re: Montana QB rejoins team
I didn't realize he lost his starting job. I actually watched App/Montana 2012 on DVD yesterday, that's why he was fresh in my mind. The kid made some amazing plays, though he did have a costly turn over in the first half.
I'm just glad Dan Moore is graduated. That guy was one of the best RB's I have ever seen. He was like Eric Breitenstein with an attitude.

Yes he was. Only got to play 6 games, a shame. Can you believe he was their #3 rusher? 413 yards he had. They'll return Nguyen and Canada who rushed for about 900 and 600. So, they arent exactly empty at RB.

I thought Nguyen was a senior last year if I'm not mistaken. I thought Canada was their best rusher coming back.GlassOnion wrote:Yes he was. Only got to play 6 games, a shame. If I was a UM fan, I'd do some sort of t-shirt or sign: "All I do is Nguyen, Nguyen, Nguyen no matter what."

Ron Mexico was Virginia Tech's best rusher actually. Now he is mainly known as Dog Killer with Herpes.WataugaMan wrote:"I thought Nguyen was a senior last year if I'm not mistaken. I thought Canada was their best rusher coming back."

Youre right. I thought the roster was updated because I didnt see Dan Moore listed under running backs... he was instead listed under full backs, duhh.Goapps15 wrote:I thought Nguyen was a senior last year if I'm not mistaken. Re: Montana QB rejoins team
A question GO-When you say JJ lead Montana to a NC his freshman year are you referring to the game itself or a win. Their last NC was 01. They were in the NC game in 08 and 09 but lost to Richmond and Villanova, respectively, if memory serves me correctly. I could be wrong though. My memory isn't what it used to be.GlassOnion wrote:JJ lead them to a NC in his freshman year. Who else has done that, Armanti, and I cant think of any other.
