No postseason ban, no scholarship reductions, a nominal fine, and they had an athletic department employee actually doing work for players. Sucks to vacate a title game appearance, but going forward they basically got off scot-free.

I'm pretty sure most ND fans would like to forget that championship "appearance" so no harm there either.
Where this will hit them is their reputation, kind of like how one would've thought it would bother carolina peeps. They pride themselves on being elite, and that extends to the recruits they allow in.

Whether or not those recruits can read at the 8th grade level.HeffnerIV wrote:I'm pretty sure most ND fans would like to forget that championship "appearance" so no harm there either.

I read more on the details of this. Notre Dame discovered the irregularities, investigated and kicked all four of the involved players and the volunteer student trainer out of school. I think one of them did manage to return to ND after a year. They did a full investigation and found that no Notre Dame coaches, or any paid staff were involved. They then self-reported to the NCAA. They even said they would accept the vacation of wins if there were any involvement by anyone on the ND staff. I don't like ND, but it looks as if they got hosed by the NCAA.
Compare to what UNC-CHeat has done at every step and it is clear there is no rhyme or reason to anything done by the NCAA.
