World of pain in knatsboro
"Meanwhile, a quick search revealed that Summers spent part of Saturday night blocking fans on Twitter, which isn’t exactly the lesson he should have learned from the VanGorder debacle."

Was Summers not told during the "on-boading" process in the HR department when he was hired, you know while completing employment and insurance forms, going over school policies and culture which includes running the option? Running the option is not an option...it's what we do!! LOL.

Re: World of pain in knatsboro
Anyone outside of Statesboro knew that at some point they were going to have to make the offensive transition and that it would be painful for a couple years, but these people have no patience. They already have a QB that can sling it a little so they're not too far off. But hey, I'll just be sitting over here enjoying the view

Re: World of pain in knatsboro
They had 2 recruits decommit over the weekend. One of the recruits has a brother who is currently on the Eagle roster. Things not looking good for GS.
Wonder if they have any players verbally committed that App's staff is interested in...this would be the time to strike!

I believe ol' flip flop is pretty steadfast in his decision to be an Eagle although I'm thinking we should mail him a pair of App State flip flops for Christmas!HeffnerIV wrote:Wonder if Obe Fortune is regretting his decision yet.

Well...this from the article as well:HeffnerIV wrote:Wonder if Obe Fortune is regretting his decision yet.
"Since Saturday’s game, two players who were committed to play for the Eagles have since decommitted, and it’s hard to blame them to be honest."

Re: World of pain in knatsboro
Looks like it's already been edited but this was on Coach Summer's wikipedia page earlier:
Wikipedia:
Tyson Summers is an American college football coach and is the head coach of the Georgia Southern Eagles football team. He was named to the position at the end of the 2015 season. He inherited a 10 win team returning 19 of 22 starters. An embarrassment of riches and athleticism on the offensive side of the ball and most talented defense Georgia Southern has had in the better part of a decade. What a place to land, right? Surround yourself with the right people and put the ball in the hands of the most athletic quarterbacks and running backs in the Sun Belt. No need to reinvent the wheel, this squad grinded and had so much chemistry it was an honor to see them lace up and BALL. Week in and week out. Trains do not just come off the tracks, they must be derailed. So far, Coach Summers and his middle school stooges have managed to do just that in one quick season. With a complete lack of leadership and incompetence, Coach Summers and his staff have led a team destined for greatness, another conference title and lock for a bowl game to the cellar of the Sun Belt. Gnats, the native and most abundant inhabitant of Statesboro summer, have been deemed endangered after this Summers.
In no way do does any of this reflect on the players, Eagle Nation's heart aches for the players and their blood sweat and tears poured into the program. Winter is here, Summer(s) is over. Make Georgia Southern Great Again!

Always a possibility, even for the elite programs. Hopefully Gillin is a little more savvy than Kleinlein - never any guarantees with coach searches, but I think they had some interest from coaches with better resumes than Summers.ASU85Grad wrote:What scares me is that if SS is hired away, and we have one bad hire, we could be in the same boat.

Re: World of pain in knatsboro
That's true literally anywhere in college football. See Texas, South Carolina and Notre Dame, for example. We just need to hang on to Doug Gillin, who has demonstrated that he has good instincts in hiring and support our program so that revenues enable us to always hire coaches with a strong record of integrity, academic mindedness and on-field success (and a staff with similar supporting credentials).ASU85Grad wrote:What scares me is that if SS is hired away, and we have one bad hire, we could be in the same boat.
Those things and a lot of good fortune should give us a fighting chance. Unfortunately, there are no guarantees *except* if the time ever comes that we hire a known "outlaw," absolutely nothing good will come of it.
