No mid-major school in North Carolina is immune to it. Hell, I know a guy that went to State that still wore Carolina gear.
What a douche.
Not more of a douche than an App person wearing UNC gear, IMO.
Agreed. More just a comment to the practice of crapping on your alma mater.

No doubt we all fight it. For us though most of our Chapel Hill fans are Chapel Hill fans 100% of the time and don't disguise themselves as Charlotte fans part time. We don't have many Charlotte basketball fans that are also Chapel Hill fans. Since we haven't had football we didn't have to deal with Chapel Hill basketball fans and Charlotte football fans. That is the dynamic that you all have.

I think most of us, or at least me, when I have referenced the UNC fans it's how many of your football base are Chapel Hill basketball fans in place of App. All of the App football fans I communicate with and are friends with, most who have football season tickets couldn't even tell me what Apps record was, who they played the night before or anything like that. Who knows maybe we will see that too. Obviously Chapel Hill's basketball is better than what App and Charlotte offer and it isn't like Chapel Hill football lights the world on fire. Maybe it's just the dynamics of a football school vs. a basketball school. All of our 6-7k fans that attend basketball games are 49er football fans, but only a small portion of your 30k football fans have a clue what is happening with your basketball program. I have to think if 30k people cared about your basketball their performance wouldn't be acceptable.

With that said let me state again that I 100% agree with you that it's something we all fight.

I had several friends go to State. They told me that when UNC won their title in 2004, tons of State students were cheering and celebrating outside. UNC's bandwagon spreads far and wide.

Yeah I had a friend that grew up a Tarheel fan. Went to Duke and wore his Chapel Hill shit around. I swear I don't understand people like that. Your undergrad, where you spent 4 or 5 or maybe 6 or 7 of the best years of your life is what you should honor and cherish.

Or 8!

I grew up a UNC fan since that's where my dad and brother both graduated. My uncle played JV football for App in the early 70's and App was the only place I applied...thankfully I was accepted. I still pull for UNC but to a much lesser extent and it would be a cold day in hell before I would ever cheer for Chapel Hill over the Mountaineers. I don't even own any Tar Heel apparel any longer.

The only reason we have more fans "double-dipping" allegiances is because we have more fans. Period. The biggest UNCC fan/supporter that I know (was denied from App and is still butthurt about it) has a Chapel Hill license plate. Barely anyone at the spring game was even wearing UNCC merchandise.

I like the way this relationship is going. I can see that in a few years an App State vs UNC-C football game develops into a real big deal in the state of NC, like the USC vs Clemson game is for SC, least I hope so.

More football fans - yes, since we haven't had a football team. Kudos to you.

Your friend is a perfect example of what I was saying - he probably isn't a true Charlotte basketball fan at all. It will be interesting to see if we see more double dipping with the arrival of football.

There were plenty of people wearing Charlotte gear at the spring game. Would you like video evidence?

If ECU and App and Charlotte can come to some sort of scheduling agreement between the three of us it would be awesome. I don't expect any game to happen until we are both fully transitioned with full rosters, but at that point if the respective ADs don't line up something then they are stupid. I can see ECU thinking they are above a long term deal with either of us since they view themselves more on Chapel Hill and State's level though.
