My wife's favorite cousins son plays for Northern Kentucky basketball and they played Idaho Saturday night. The gym is a high school gym with more lines on it than Broome Kirk. Seats 1,500. I don't think CUSAwill want Idaho.

It seems to me, the Idaho basketball team doesn't play in a "high school gym" that seats 1500. They actually play in the Dome and it's reconfigured to seat 6000.Rekdiver wrote:My wife's favorite cousins son plays for Northern Kentucky basketball and they played Idaho Saturday night. Idaho splits their home basketball games between Memorial Gym (the line-filled dump they played at yesterday) or the Cowan Spectrum (what they call the Kibbie Dome when it's configured for hoops).

Re: UAB Football might be cut ---
C-USA would be wise to drop a team or end up at 12. If they want Ga State (which matches their profile) then let them have them. Ga State will drop their program in the next decade. Similar problems to UAB, nobody cares about Ga State football.

Some may view this as callused, but has anyone looked at their roster to see if there are any talented kids we could get as transfers? Same question if we need to back-fill any coaching spots that could come open.
Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for everyone involved at UAB, but if they do close the doors on the program, someone is going to pick up these players and coaches...

Not a dedicated one, he coaches ST and OLB's.

I hope Bill Clark gets an interview at least with Troy. He would be a good fit there and I'm sure he would be interested in the job. Part of the reason he took the UAB job was because it was in state and wouldn't mess with his retirement. He's a really good coach to get cut-loose like this.
Re: UAB Football might be cut ---
Agree. That's the first place I thought of when this happened. Troy would be foolish not to go after him...will have to pony up, though, I'm sure. Much like us after Moore - it's been a long time since they've had to make a hire and the salary requirements might increase greatly.spong wrote:I hope Bill Clark gets an interview at least with Troy. Troy has already hired a new HC in Neal Brown.appgrad wrote:Agree. That's the first place I thought of when this happened. I don't think so at all. Happened with ETSU - Gerald Sensabaugh ended up at UNC for a year, and then went on to a long NFL Career.Boone Goon wrote:Some may view this as callused, but has anyone looked at their roster to see if there are any talented kids we could get as transfers? Also - might not be a bad time to look for gaps in CUSA team's schedules were UAB would've been. Could snake a cheap home game from a division foe of theirs like Marshall, WKU or MTSU.

Didn't realize Brown got the gig. That's a pretty solid hire too - very young as well!hapapp wrote:Troy has already hired a new HC in Neal Brown.appgrad wrote:Agree. Re: UAB Football might be cut ---
Good thought, but they didn't have any games scheduled past 2016 - one of the tipoffs that this move was coming for a while. And most of the ones they did have in '15 and '16 were vs. Sun Belt teams anyway.appgrad wrote: Also - might not be a bad time to look for gaps in CUSA team's schedules were UAB would've been. Re: UAB Football might be cut ---
True - but, depending on when the axe drops, several CUSA schools now have an open slot on their schedule for 2015 and/or 2016. We'll see, I guess...EastHallApp wrote:Good thought, but they didn't have any games scheduled past 2016 - one of the tipoffs that this move was coming for a while. Re: UAB Football might be cut ---
I hope UAB puts up a fight and retains their program. What Alabama is doing to them is disgusting. I had no reason to dislike Alabama other than pulling for whoever plays them in football (everyone loves an underdog), but now I can't stand to watch them parade out.
This is unfair to those alumni, fans, coaches, players, etc.
