not sure our schedule has a stellar record either, but I know we have a good of a team as we've ever fielded.
Oh absolutely. That's why I asked "is their resume any better than ours" rather than insisting our resume was better than theirs. Ours is certainly not more impressive, but the two are comparable.

SOS is always going to hurt us, and no matter how much we may deny it, even teams in P5 conferences having very bad years generally have much tougher schedules than 95% of G5 teams. But in this case, the only difference I see between the resumes is that they've played one more game than we have.

Though I will point out that we have both scored more points and allowed more points in 4 games than they have in 5. We've scored 188 and allowed 116 this season by my math, and they've scored 179 and allowed 105.
If you have a super good team who cares about SOS. You can only play the teams on your schedule as they say. We can't do anything about how good or bad our opponents are but we can damn sure whip their tails.

Wake doesn't scare me in the least. Elon? BC? Rice?

It's more of a testament to what can happen when your coaches stop giving away the playbook.

I would love to play Wake this year.

They are absolutely a good team, but is their resume any better than ours?

Wins over Utah State, Rice, UNC-CH, Elon, and BC.

We know where both teams stand with the Tarheels, and as for the rest, Utah State is okay and the rest are probably pretty bad. Rice is 0-6, Elon's 2-4, and BC is 3-3 with bad wins and bad losses.

I'd love to see our offense square off with them, and while I think they'd score plenty on our defense (who hasn't?), it would be a fun game to watch.
OK, so this is fun. Wake beat Boston College and we beat Coastal who beat Kansas who beat Boston College so through the highly scientific principle of transitive properties...we in essence beat Boston College as well!

And being from a G5 league we have to whip the tails of those we play for sure. A 3 point win in the SBC does not equal a typical 3 point win in the SEC. I would argue that we probably have to win by 20 or more each week for it to feel like we should compete with those.

I'm with you that we can't worry about SOS. We can't help it. We just have to go 1-0 each week and look good doing it.

I still say if the defense catches up that we could blow ULL out of the water. They are not bad but I keep waiting on us to wake up and truly assert our dominance over the SBC. The ability is there.
