I can think of 1.2M reasons why he went to UCLA.
And I say that as a big fan of Joey and his family and happy he's doing so well.

Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
The money wasn’t the motivating factor. It was good money and it was closer for his family to see him, but that was his opportunity to get to the next level. He’s doing well financially at Tennessee as well. He loves it, the fans love him. But make no mistake, he loves App. He is looking to get a house in Boone at some point.

Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
Honestly that makes it all make sense. There was no way he could have afforded a house in Boone on an App NIL deal. TN could afford him that opportunity with a cool mil or so.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 9:05 amThe money wasn’t the motivating factor. That's a knock on Boone pruces dripping in sarcasm just an FYI to our beloved readers.

I talk to Jose frequently. I’ve never asked how much Joey is getting because it’s none of my business, but he did tell me that he is doing quite well financially. More importantly, he is managing his money in a mature manner.

For someone that enjoys the nuance of statements that's a bold one. Maybe not THE, but is was certainly part of the equation.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 9:05 amThe money wasn’t the motivating factor. Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
Maybe but he didn’t have the supporting cast last year. We didn’t have any D and a weak OLine to win more.
Simple facts

Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
Money is always a deciding factor. I can say this, when Joey was being courted after 2023, Jose told me “we got what we were comfortable with from App.”Saint3333 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 9:31 amFor someone that enjoys the nuance of statements that's a bold one. Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
We had two players starting for WV in the secondary. A player starting for Tulane on the DL, a rotational player for Mizzou on the DL, and our current leading tacklers at LB. We had enough talent to do better than the atrocity we saw last season. That is a testament to how poor of a coach Sloan is and how bad his scheme and playcalling were.
Samford is giving up 40 points per game under his leadership currently if that tells you anything.

Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
Are you saying money had nothing to do with it and he just wanted to get to the SEC? Or are you saying he made the move to get to the NFL? Tennessee is not that much closer to home by flight.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 9:05 amThe money wasn’t the motivating factor. We are all welcome to share our opinions on this topic, but 94 knows Joey and his family personally. So, he isn’t just spitballing about the young man’s motivators and aspirations for heading west.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 9:31 amFor someone that enjoys the nuance of statements that's a bold one. Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
What are you saying the factor is if it is not money? I believe it was the money because there are many other schools out west that he could have gone to in order to be closer to home. The difference in those schools and Tennessee is the money so to me it has to be the money. I wish players would just be open and admit it is about the money. It is okay. I believe he loves App but he loves the money more and that is okay.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 7:49 pmDidn’t say either one.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 7:24 pmAre you saying money had nothing to do with it and he just wanted to get to the SEC? No matter what one says the money mattered.Bootsy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 7:58 pmWe are all welcome to share our opinions on this topic, but 94 knows Joey and his family personally. Our record last year mattered.
Playing in CA mattered.
Opportunity to play against P4s mattered.
94 always enjoys a multi-facet reason for outcomes. This one is no different.

Re: Vol Football (Aguilar watch)
What exactly is your agenda here? Not every player is chasing the dollars. He was seemingly out of eligibility and both parties had moved on. Once he was granted another year, he needed somewhere to go and UCLA was home and they needed an QB. After UCLA recruited Nico over him, it was late in the process and most teams had their guy. You are free to have whatever opinion you want, but I am well versed in what transpired with Joey and how he ended up at Tennessee. If you think that he left App to go to UCLA for money, you are dead wrong. He was offered a good bit after 2023 to leave and he came back for what his dad said “was a deal that they were happy with.” You need to stop believing every thought that you have to be truth. You are your own worst enemy.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 8:47 pmWhat are you saying the factor is if it is not money? Nothing happens for a single solitary reason. Just because you can’t process what you can’t see doesn’t mean that it didn’t occur.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 8:56 pmNo matter what one says the money mattered.Bootsy wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 7:58 pmWe are all welcome to share our opinions on this topic, but 94 knows Joey and his family personally.
