Re: Preseason Projections
Somebody give me something , anything to hold on too!?!!?😳 I can only speak for myself, but I'm incredibly excited for this season because I have no expectations. I could see us winning every game or losing every game, there's just too many unknown variables. However, that unknown makes me more exc...

Re: Texas State "heavy favorite" to join Pac-12, LaTech favored to join Sun Belt
The Sun Belt has improved over the last decade by adding quality schools within the conference footprint (roughly the actual Sun belt). The Sun Belt has zigged by becoming more regional while the big boys have zagged by going nationwide. I think this is a smart move, and has paid off so far. Louisia...

Re: NIL and future of NCAACF
Trying not to make this a political statement as I favor neither, but I fear any action by this administration. This administration seems to favor a handgrenade over a firecracker. What we really need is for college presidents to grow a pair. To paraphrase Reagan, the most terrifying words to hear ...

Thank you. I have some issues going back to the ‘50s. Remember looking forward to grabbing it at the school library, later as an adult the weekly delivery. The photos , of course the covers. I think the depth of the reporting though …it just really impacted me as a kid. SI has been bought and sold ...

Watched my annual pre-opening day movie last night...The Sandlot. Sounds and smells of Summer, kids playing ball, no school, pool parties, ballpark food, cracks of the bat, the sound of the mitt. What are some of your favorite baseball related sounds? (Can't use crack of the bat or pop of the mitt)...

Sports evolve over time. That's why it's so hard to compare stars from different eras. But the game today is an abomination compared to the 70-90's. Push-off is allowed for offensive players, carrying/palming the ball is okay, no such thing as traveling as walking calls are non existent. Flopping i...

Reading between the lines from Georgia boards… Abson seems gone. Where is the big question. Being in grad school at UGA, I've defended Abson's decision to transfer to Georgia. I also would understand his decision to transfer out. It's not a perfect comparison because they play different positions, ...

One of the great things about college basketball and March Madness is that teams like App are still in it!

Re: MBB at Georgia Southern, Tuesday Feb. 25th 7pm
With other results tonight, App State will finish either 5th with a win Friday, or 6th with a loss. Either way, Sun Belt Tournament starts next Friday for the Apps in the 4th round and we'll need to win four games in four days to make the NCAAs. Now whether you believe that can actually happen, is ...

Re: MBB vs Marshall Sat, 2/22 1:00pm
Wake and UGA are both on the bubble. Nothing is definite. Yes, I do believe Abson is getting more exposure in the SEC than the SBC. Every NBA team will watch their games because he is playing behind a True Freshman lottery pick (the only reason he isn’t starting by the way). A bottom quartile SEC t...

Re: MBB vs Marshall Sat, 2/22 1:00pm
How much did (3rd from the bottom of the SEC) Georgia pay our big to play 9 minutes a game and average 2 points and 2 boards? They have a grand total of 4 conference wins. I believe it was significant. But I doubt he gets paid by Georgia next year, so assume he’ll transfer elsewhere, but not sure h...

Re: Another domino has fallen NIL
It gets tiring seeing the constant doomerism about college athletics on this here message board. It infests every football-related topic. The linked story is about the new Department of Education administration changing the previous administration's guidance as it relates to Title IX, saying Title ...

As a die-hard App fan, I would live in a shack by Eagle Creek for a million a year. I'd also retire after 5 years and go live in a shack by a beach with hopes the salinity in the air would keep all the infections I picked up during my 5 year stint in Statesboro in remission. You'd also have the ple...

Re: Good thoughts for others who's kids hurt them
I should also mention that the grades you have to have to get into colleges is insane these days. She was worried about not getting into UNC and some of her friends didn’t with weighted gpa of like 4.25 No way I could get into App out of high school right now. I teach high school, and it's gotten i...

Re: MBB @ ULM, Saturday 1/25 3pm
APPdiesel, you mention we don’t move well without the ball … lot of players standing around. I’ve noticed about every team does this now. They get it from the NBA where two players run a screen & roll and the other three “position themselves” (in other words, stand around and rest and watch). This ...

Re: How Much is Your College Football Team Worth?
That chart pretty much shows App State will never/can never compete with the $$$$$ flowing into those universities. The money will never be there unless we can get a Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos to fund the program. The rich will just get richer. I'm not trying to be a jerk, and maybe I'm misreading you...

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - IN
Not sure one game is a testament to parity of CFB this season. It seems that we had quite a bit of parity during the regular season. I did not see one team that was overly dominant all year. OSU lost to Michigan during the regular season. Something clicked for them after that loss. 100% this. Look ...

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - IN
Challenge?? To cause a contract? I would say that NIL and The Transfer Portal has had more of an equalizing effect on college football. Programs can no longer stockpile talent and sit on it. I think that is one of the reasons that Alabama was not in the playoffs this year. That is the reason we are...
