Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
Listened to the WSJ podcast this morning and many believe their will be a further push to classify athletes as full employees. This would increase costs even further and faster. Will the power 2 or 4 give in here or do they fight for this treatment for football and basketball only? I hope we're sti...

Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
This isn’t NIL. It’s payment directly from the school.

Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
Important to remember that this settlement does not do away with payments from collectives. This is revenue sharing by the school. The collectives will still exist. Also have heard some legal experts who believe Title IX does not apply to revenue sharing. It deals with equal opportunity for educati...

Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
How many sports will be cut and how many entire athletic departments will be shuttered completely because of this? The way I read it is that the cap will be $22 million per year to begin with and will adjust based on revenue. That is the number for the P4 schools. What will the amount be for a Belt...

Re: NC State series in danger?
what a bunch of babies. They've been dodging app for almost 20 years. They're non-conference schedule has been a joke under Doren so it's not shocking they'd back out of this one. Thankfully, we're not the only program in the state that's going to get left behind. They won't get an invite to the P2...

Re: Another Portal Loss and Portal Discussion
I mean in this case it clearly worked out for Jalen, he’s getting paid more than he would at App AND he’s a significant contributor. While he would get plenty of nfl consideration at App there’s no doubt if he’s successful in the SEC that =higher draft position=more money Toledo just had a corner g...

Re: Two minute warning, helmet comm approved
And Johnny Unitas called his own plays - drew them up on the field sometimes. Fun to watch. Patrick Mahomes does this with Kelce. Brady used to do it with Gronkowski. How do you think two guys get open so easily, so often? They just run to an open spot, Mahomes or Brady get's it there, and they run...

Re: 2024 Spring Ball
I think the other thing we learned last year is that practice Joey and GAMEDAY Joey might be 2 different people. Not saying he doesn't practice hard or prepare but sometimes how you act on gameday doesn't translate in practice. He was neck and neck with Burger in practice but the stats in the elon ...

Re: Cabral to WVU (Eric McDaniel is replacement)
Also, please provide insight into our offense being predictable on certain plays If we pass on first down and it's incomplete, 90% of the time we run on second down. And likewise, if a run is less than 3 yards on first down, then we throw a check down or deigned <10 yard pass on second down 90% of ...

Depending on the order as issued , they may have been subject. I don’t recall. But yes they don’t want us beating up on them . Who is issuing orders around here? Certainly not unelected bureaucrats or a Head of State extending a State of Emergency beyond the length of time allowed by the law? Ah, w...

Re: Keep Joey 2024 - NIL
The answer has to come from States standing up for amateurism. The states control colleges not federal. I am fine with a two tier system as long as it is the paid league and the amateur league. There were very few at the Troy basketball game. My children's high school has more paying fans than most...

Re: Keep Joey 2024 - NIL
NIL will turn college athletics into even more of the have’s and have not’s. Afraid we will fall into the second bucket and will be raided every offseason. Yes we can pick up transfers but only what well funded NIL programs don’t want. I doubt we have many fans willing to send hard earned money to ...

Re: App had one of the worst run defenses
Little in what way? Where? App was always small on the line. Overall, this is the biggest line App has had since going to FBS. The only smallish player was Hopper, and he may be better suited as an end, but he was a menace in passing situations from nose.

Re: App had one of the worst run defenses
Bend but don't break and score more than the other guys. Recipe for 8 or more wins. Yep. Some people have to search for negative stuff about our winning App team. If they don't go undefeated, win the conf and play in a NY6 game, the whole staff should be fired. Those folks also feel like App footba...

Re: Where are we at as Appalachian football?
Not unreasonable but 10+ lbs doesn’t guarantee better. People seem to get caught up in the measurables (height and weight) and not the speed, footwork and hand strength. The best DL in the NFL is 6’1” 285 ((Aaron Donald) and the best Center is 6’3” 282 (Jason Kelce). Just saying. True. But how many...

Re: Bowl Season
FSU should have played Liberty and Oregon/UGA. Terrible scheduling. No CFP and no NY6 for FSU, which equates to ESPN/Bowl committees giving FSU a Sunday school lesson as a reward for their lawsuits and grandstanding in the press. Still, hats off to LU for making the Fiesta Bowl. Yes, they got smoke...
