This tweet reminded of this thread.
"20 minutes until the biggest SoCon game in four years gets going at Johnson-Hagood "
... and half of the stadium is empty. And, a Saturday afternoon game.

Re: Why we should get ready to hear "Appy State"
Gotta admit that this is a clever nickname...
"Appetizer State"

at least clever instead of the boring ole "crApp State", etc.
And, if you aren't familiar with Tennessee's "painting the rock" tradition:

Re: Akron Zips player shoots team mate
if we just ban guns on school campuses there will never be another shooting on a campus. Oh wait, guns have been banned on all the school campuses that shootings have taken place at in the past. I can't believe that didn't work. What's the world coming to when you can't count on a crazed lunatic wi...

How many App fans abandoned the program during the "No Equal! No More!" campaign about Tanston Tanyi, Ed Gainey, etc. and the university's response to their investigations?

l then who better to enter on short notice and bring instant reputation (save what I believe is an ill-fated attempt to pin the man on the whole HGH deal) than Peyton Manning. Peyton is actually one of the players named in the lawsuit. Yes, the lawsuit goes back 25 years to create an atmosphere of ...

Re: "state side"
Y'all are too sensitive. Is the "you suck, a-hole" chant dumb and classless? yes. do i say it when i'm at a game? no. but, it's what happens when you fill a bunch of kids with alcohol and pack them into a stadium for a football game. it can't be stopped unless you completely anesthetize the student ...

Re: NCAA investigating more academic fraud allegations...
I have always been of the opinion that a small percentage of college athletes could hack college academics. A great majority of athletes barely get though high school. Perhaps that is close to accurate for big money sports at major universities. But, a majority of college athletes are actually exce...

Bob Levy "What I'll remember about Landon Donovan, more than the goals and the on-field moments, is a cold night in Newtown, CT, just 4 weeks after hell visited that small town. The first town wide event for kids was a "Soccer Night in Newtown", organized by Houston's Chis Canetti, and many of the g...

Re: App Once Again Praised for Value
While I always like any positive pub, as an alum I wish we got more attention for overall quality than for simply being cheap to attend. Note that the #1 ranking is simply based on being the least expensive school on the list, and it ranks us 17th for quality. To me value and cheap isn't really the...

WVU has one for starters. And, Tennessee and WVU have essentially the same guy in coonskin cap and letter clothes. But, they don't seem to mind. And, noone said we needed to have the same Davy Crockett-esque mascot. We should go with a Daniel Boone type. Like this statue: http://blog.randmcnally.co...

Re: New Alternate Unis
Alabama, Texas, Florida, USC, Michigan, Penn State, and the list goes on, have had very minimal if any change to unis and have a great degree of success through the years. When someone sees their unis that is not a big college football fan, they can usually identify with who the school is. So I gue...
