Re: Wofford loss is on Satterfield
I totally diagree with the blame being on SS. SS is playing with the hand that he was dealt. There are five QB's on our roster (JJ, Magloire, Bryant, Barnes, and Hallock (sp?). None of which were recruited by SS to run his offense. JJ may very well be ASU's very first NFL QB. He has the size, speed...

Re: Triple option
Here's my idea against the Triple option. Go back to the old 5-3 defense. Let the corners and the 1 safety play man against the 3 receivers. That is usually all a TO offense has. Tell the DE their responsibility is to go down the line and hit the qb and force him to pitch the ball. The outside line...

Re: Triple option
I watched the youtube video of the Wofford Coach's show, it only showed the runs that Wofford did break for big plays. I must admit that many of their runs were a result of guys being out of positioned. Kimbrough and Grier were out of place on a couple of their big runs. There were a couple of blitz...

Re: Triple option
Regardless of how many we have in the box if we continue to put one defender on the QB and pitch man the option will beat us. One cannot defend two if the two keep their pitch relationship where it should be. That is what led to the fumble return for TD. The defense did not cause that fumble as muc...

Re: Some things that need saying
My seat is about the 35 yard line, so got a pretty good look, my first instinct when I saw it was it was incomplte becaue his arm was going forward, then I immediately thought to myself, he threw it right down the line so it was being called a lateral. But when the ref offered his explanatin he did ...

Re: Whats the deal??
I wouldnt be too critical of a freshman who has played only a few games. I could see if he was a junior or senior doing those things. And honestly I dont see the showboating or the lack of hustle. If I see anything, its that he seems to maybe gets frustrated or mad at himself when he doesnt make the...

Re: Some things that need saying
I'm my opinion Jackson made a stupid play that put the official in a situation to make a call. He was hoping the official would bail him out. He didn't and the team suffered for his poor decision, same as the flip. Never put yourself in a situation where you are looking for someone else to bail you...

Re: Some things that need saying
I understand that is what we all think on here but how do we know what the refs thoughts were at that moment, He could have just as easily missed the call because he is horrible. not saying i knew what he was thinking, but from my pt, the app guy extended his arm and pushed the qb down. Had he foll...

Re: Some things that need saying
Re: Thoughts from the game by Snwbrdro » October 21st, 2012, 7:14 am It's drilled in their heads all week to hit their man in the backfield whether he has the ball or not and that is all they have seen all game is 4 different players running the ball, you can't penalize them for that. It wasn't lat...

Re: Some things that need saying
I have been an App fan for a few years now, but I think some of us look at things through blinders sometimes. The two "questionable calls", the fumble and the personal foul, could have went either way, but they unfortunately went Wofford's way. Again they were questionable, and they did have a big i...

Re: Triple option
One guy who I feel could help us at LB is Frazier. I never understood moving him to RB if he rarely plays there. He is a good tackler regularly makes plays on special teams.

Re: Triple option
Your point is valid about having 3-4 last year. And it would help to have a couple of big nasties up front. But you don't need 2 safeties put an extra guy in the box.

Re: Triple option
Why do we INSIST on playing 5 defensive backs all day against triple option teams that pass the ball 5 times or less? 4 linemen, 2 linebackers and 5 DB's is not going to cut it. If we try it again in Statesboro, it could get ugly. Karl Anderson looked great today after Grier went down. Am I missing...

Re: The PRICE is Right Satterfield!!!!
Price is good and probably is further along than Quick at this point in his career. He doesnt have the fluidness that Quick has, I also think Price will be a different type of receiver than Quick. I see Price as being a more physical type who uses his size more than Quick did. I see Price being more...

Re: ? to those who saw the game
Their offense is pathetic. After they got the lead it was almost like they were playing not to lose.

Re: ? to those who saw the game
O-line was abysmal, they gave JJ little to no time to throw. Miller is very quick but weak - goes down on first contact every time. Those are some observations I noticed from a TV perspective. Stoked about the win! I don think they were abysmal. The line did started slowly for sure. I think they co...

Defensive Scheme/Personnel
I wasnt at the game yesterday, but have been to many App games and was atthe Montana game last week. so cant speak specifically to the defensive alignments yesterday. I know we have been using the 3-4 defensive scheme for a couple of years, and the players should be getting the hang of it pretty wel...

Re: Not So Special Teams
Special teams is about dedication and also following a plan and being disciplined and being in position to make plays. While it isnt about having athletes, I do have to quesiton some of the personnel that we use on our coverage units. I know the preferred formation is to have the 3 big personal prot...
