Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
If schools are allowed to now work with their collectives, then they might be able to structure the revenue sharing through the collectives with NIL deals, which currently aren't subject to Title IX. This, in the end, likely will be resolved in court. Does Title IX require equal payment, or equal o...

Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
So now will coaches need to take a lawyer with them on a recruiting visit to help negotiate the money aspect? Are those 3 star guys we typically sign going to demand money we can't pay? Will our tickets double in price? If that happens no need to expand the stadium as 20k will be the norm. Just let...

Re: NCAA and Prig5 anti trust settlement
F' it. Separate sports from academic institutions. If a dime of taxpayer money goes to paying athletes in this current system, then fire everyone. I'm okay from an economic standpoint with outside nil, even though we get raw dogged as a smaller program. But schools paying athletes is where I can't s...

Re: Softball Coach gone
In this age I think it's valid to talk how long a new coach might stay. She's working her way up having assisted at 3 different schools since 2018. If she wins a decent amount she will be gone to a larger program fairly quickly. Going from a high school to Washington to ucf to osu to us. Not afraid ...

Re: UNC gear in Boone
The things that you folks get you tighty whiteys in a wad over. Not everyone in Boone is an App fan. Ehh, panties not in a wad. Just a random thought after seeing unc gear on an App gear stand in Boone. It would be nice if these businesses could sell enough App gear that selling much of the other s...

UNC gear in Boone
Sure will be nice if Boone can ever get enough App fans that these stores don't sell anymore UNC gear.

I'd give them $10 to put my face on a person in the stands, but only if my body holds up my middle fingers when we play the stink.

Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
If you have to prop up your program with 13.9 million in student taxes I think a reevaluation is necessary. We are in he upper end for sunbelt with multiple peers being in single digits and a couple wayyy up there. Imagine what could be done for academics with 10 of that 14 million......but I know p...

Re: Is it time to rethink the sports we offer ?
Just some budgeting numbers to aid the conversation. We don't really make money on paper with sports. Football breaks even or loses a bit. https://knightnewhousedata.org/fbs/sunbelt/appalachian-state-university https://www.collegefactual.com/colleges/appalachian-state-university/student-life/sports/...

Re: NC lawmakers to force UNC, NC State to play in-state schools
I think if laws like this get passed across the nation, it will just be an added catalyst to push athletics to separate from schools and be their own entity of semi-pro/minor league sports that just use the name and likeness of the schools for their teams. I still think the split from the academic ...

Re: Slow goings on the board
It's an unsecured website, so that plays a bit into it. Secure websites tend to load faster. If you are accessing from work or other places with firewalls that may trigger them, or if your home device has something on it that doesn't like unsecured sites, that could play into it.

Re: D1 Board of Directors sets stipulations on Pay to Play and transfers
Looks like one thing they are trying to combat are the transfer portal students not staying on track in their degrees. That part could slow down some of the transferring if it's done properly, but I won't hold my breath.

Re: Virginia law allows schools to pay athletes for NIL
So this is interesting. NIL from a state government agency. While I applaud trying to support a local cause, that brings back the issue of tax money being used to buy college mercenaries. Edit, first link wouldn't work. https://www.wsoctv.com/news/local/nc-state-legend-dj-burns-lands-nil-deal-with-t...
