Re: Dowell Loggains SI Article

One aspect of the “pay the poor abused players” argument that kills me is that blanket assumption that schools have made “billions” off of these indentured servants. Zero of them has ever been forced to play a sport and I seriously doubt that outside of maybe 40 schools the rest have either operate...

Re: Sun Belt presidents to vote Monday on Louisiana Tech

Their Athletic budget is ~$2.5M more than ULM. I don’t get it. $560K in football ticket sales last fall.

Re: Staff Reductions Coming To ADs

When you talk about Irene I am curious how old is she? She might fund a sport now but when she dies will her children still do it? If you are depending on one person and the sport does not generate revenue through tickets, merchandise, TV revenue, etc then at some point that sport will be a drain u...

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread

If bunting is not emphasized by the coaching staff then I can't get mad at the players for not executing. It's a fundamental/art that could and should be taught still. The coaching staff seems to be following the same trends as many others (analytics and power hitting - which seems to work for the ...

Re: ACC

If you moved sports to Hickory than the Boone campus would slowly die. As far as the streaming goes, I wish we would step that up as a program. It wouldn't be all that expensive all things considered to invest in some hi def 4k etc cameras in lots of places around the field and allowing the online ...

There were more parameters for joining the AAC than budget.
Correct. If I recall most of the conferences “above” us require R1 National Research status (I think AAC is one)… just this calendar year, we just obtained R2 status. A long way to go on that front.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

To DOTE you said and I quote: "The budget should be Bigger now, because the school has grown the student body, alumni base, etc etc. That has to do with population not who the AD is. Population drives Donations/Budgets." We now have around 150,000+ alumni. The student body has grown which in turn h...

Re: Roster/Staff Updates

I love it. It could possibly stand up in court, if we had our players sign it when they sign their contract. All video of you in AppState uniform is owned by AppState. Of course we probably sign that right over to ESPN. We would probably sign it over to Nike, who would sign it over to ESPN. I belie...

Re: App State moves up to R2 Carneige Classification

Significant in that hopefully this means more per student funding provided from the State. The last I saw we were still funded nearly equal to wcu (bottom 20-25% of the UNC System) on a per student basis. All of the articles seen over the SNE years saying “most state funding received ever…” really i...

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - OUT

I’ve said before offense was not the issue. If we had an average defense this season, we’d have won 9 games. The question is, did we not have talent on the D side of the ball or was the coaching just terrible? Or both? We can agree to disagree, but I see it slightly different. Aside from the obliga...

I always assumed the fee also covered intramural sports, there is heavy participation there.
I believe that is funded by the “Student Activities Fee”…

So students shouldn't pay fees that go toward athletics?... So the fans should pay it all? I don't think so .... Most schools don't have the cash to fund it all... Ask our men's soccer team. Really? You said that? The fans should not pay for their entertainment? And the students shouldn't either? P...

Once App brings NIL inside, and it’s in the works, it will be tax deductible and it will earn YC points. Less minimum giving requirements to buy season tickets. The per seat/section minimum giving requirement directly reduces the ability to claim tax deduction $1 for $1. Saw email today from Athlet...

Make it an even 16 teams for a real playoff. Have bowl games for the rest of the top 25 that didn't make the cut. Eliminate all other bowl games. 6-6 should not be getting a post season.

6-6 should not be getting a post season? Why?
Simple answer: It’s not a winning record.
