Re: NC lawmakers to force UNC, NC State to play in-state schools
We don't discuss politics round here. Well, at least not for long.

Re: Negativity
I think there could be a nastier, a more spoiled, a more I measure my success in life by my alma mater's weekly and seasonal success on the gridiron. So we have that going for us.

I am as disgusted as anyone else, but we are going to have to give him some time. I am convinced he has the heart to learn and perform his job at a higher level.
The alternative is to shuffle through rising stars.

I never heard about the bell until I read the article. I also had never never heard anything about Lillie Shull Dougherty.

Re: Men's Golf
I pay it no attention, but those results, if accurate , are better than I would have expected. According to your data, we finished 12th of 14 in the SB Tourney. We either had a bad showing in that tournament, or played against some weak or otherwise limited competition in the events where we posted ...

Re: End of a good run, My Last Newspaper
In Hickory the local papers were acquired by larger publishing companies and became irrelevant as these larger interests cared not for local news, Their only concern was local ad revenue. I have no mercy for them but I find it a shame.

Re: App football radio top in NC
Other schools have more games on TV as well so they don't need to listen to the radio. That was my first thought. I remember listening to the Auburn game back in the days when the only two choices were be there, or listen on the radio. I also remember the season when the SoCon partnered with a few ...

Re: ETSU fires Coach
I know people don't like to hear it but I will continue to beat this drum...APPSTATE sports should embrace HIckory for our weekday games. Basketball included. If we can't sell more tickets and get support for our team in Boone we should explore the Hickory connection. I think it would be very smart...

Re: Boone Starbucks
Starbucks can be a bad neighbor. At times, their customers create havoc to the flow of traffic around their Hickory-Viewmont location. Across the street Chick-Fil-A handles a much larger volume of drive through customers, and they do so without creating problems on the throughways. I am sure results...

Re: Furman Sucks
Always looked forward to them chanting "FU!" "FU!" "FU!" Because more often than not, it meant they were losing. Not sure what sport you are talking about. They are among a couple of schools that have a 50/50 or better win percentage against us on the gridiron. That's respectable even if they are n...

I am one. Rumours was the best album Buckingham Nicks did as members of Fleetweed Mac. I realize things have changed, but in the 1970s they had not yet.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote: ↑Sun Feb 06, 2022 7:53 pmHow many of you that are Fans of Fleetwood Mac enjoy the Buckingham Nicks album they did before they joined Fleetwood Mac?

Re: Another haunt bites the dust
I was in Boone at App pre and post-beer/wine sales (83-88). Pepper's, Macado's and Makoto's are the only ones still around from that era to my knowledge. I think Klondike was there by the time I left, but am not sure. Also pretty sure liquor by the drink was never available during my time. Edit to a...
